Good Week / Bad Week
A busy international week has lead for a number of contenders to fulfil both catagories, but it is two individuals who have had very contrasting weeks from the United Kingdom that are taking the spot light in this week’s Good Week / Bad Week.
Good Week - Peter Crouch
Hopefully, the plane England are taking to South Africa is going to have extra leg room, because barring injury, the Spurs big man is a dead cert for the World Cup. Whether you like the guy or simply think he is an over mutated stick insect, there is no denying that his goal s
coring record for England on a games to goals basis rivals the very best in international football. Another brace against Egypt last week saw his stock once again rise, and his ability on the deck is very underrated by many knowledgeable football people. In fact, there are many National teams that would be built around a player of his ilk, and even some of the top sides of the world game would love a player like him to lead their line. With Capello, Crouch may be used as a genuine striker as opposed to a last 10 minute target man, and his technical ability and composure in front of goal is something that may just work in England’s favour come June & July.
Bad Week - Sam Vokes
Maybe a slightly personal one this week, but I am a Wolves fan, and therefore this week has been a bad week
for the young Welsh forward. Finding himself on the bench against Sweden on Saturday, Vokes came on to play a part in the disappointing 1-0 loss at home, in a Welsh side still stinging from the loss of talisman, Aaron Ramsey. Then coming off the bench again on Saturday for Wolverhampton Wanderers at home against Manchester United, the striker had a golden opportunity to not only earn Wolves an arguably deserved point, but also enjoy free drinks in London any time he goes down from Arsenal and Chelsea fans. The miss, that has received a fair bit of press coverage, will hopefully improve Vokes’ determination in the long run, however as the Black Country side scramble for points at this stage of the season, it has turned this week into a very bad one for the young man.

The World Cup 2010 in South Africa is the place for the top players to show if they are are really big !
