Do I Not Like That…….
Welcome to this weeks instalment of Do I Not Like That. Well done to Jose and Inter Milan. If we look at the second goal openly Milito embarrassed the Bayern centre half and made him look like a PES defender in a scripted game. Whilst it was an intriguing tactical battle (with Cesar and Milito on a red!!) but in all honesty nothing like the first 45 minutes that was the Championship final. Well done Blackpool. The Blackpool team will be interesting on PES / FIFA next season. What a great game, it was also the sort of game that mimics those often played out on PES with a team losing with a few minutes to go and then score the equaliser and eventual winner 4 minutes apart and deflating the opposition.
Glad to see the announcement of new DLC content on PESGaming re-ignited the ‘my games better than yours debate’. Whilst I urge you not to get into this debate; I am interested to know how many of you will be giving Ubisofts Pure Football a go. As others have noted the press releases make it look and sound like FIFA street, and it would be wrong to hypothesise beyond that, so I’ll wait to read a few reviews before splashing out. Also Konamis Blue Samurai
Challenge edition from Japan, (the real!) ‘Dopecoil’s’ comments on PESGaming sounded like some improvements have been made over pes2010, but it didn’t sound like enough to make me want to part with another £60 on top of pes2010 and two FIFA games, especially with the 2011 versions round the corner. So as I’ve give it a sidestep for now, what are your thoughts on it? For those who have, is it worth the import? Have Ubisoft developed a game worth purchasing?
In shopping round for WE Blue Samurai edition I came across a website stating pes2011 will be released on 5th Sept 2010 in Asia and is taking pre-orders. Also for those looking for FIFA that release date was stated as 19th October 2010. Previous releases would tell us that Pro-Evo/WE is usually about a week later than FIFA in release. As there has been no transfers included in the last two editions this still doesn’t make much sense to me. Anyhow, enough speculation, roll on June 1st for the official news. For those interested;

One big happy family….
I use the community set up quite a lot whilst playing pes with friends and it doesn’t seem a topic debated much in the forums. I think this is a great edition to the game which will solve the end of season arguments amongst friends I’m sure I’m not alone in having. The frustration I have is that the saved community data is none transferable across machines, not on a memory stick at least. When a different venue is used it makes sense the same community is used as often several of the people involved in the competition are those already in a community. This is a similar gripe to that of Dan saving and replaying goal clips. There is no reason why parts of the game such as community or replays should not be transferable. Just the title, the community, would indicate its openness for multi-users. There may be a way to move this about on line, but having played a limited amount on line for obvious reasons I’ve not really explored this very much.
Going back over old ground…..
I have now been awarded 3 penalties in ten games with two red cards. As there was no comments last week I’m putting this out to the bigger audience. Has anybody else noticed any change in decisions lately or have I just been extremely lucky, as this does amount to my previous total in nearly a years game play.
Sponsorships….
With the world cup around the corner everything, especially adverts, is football related, often for no apparent reason. Like a certain ‘buy a car’ advert, anyway, these remind me of the pointless and annoying ads in PES they are ridiculous. As PES does not offer many licensed teams I think they’re missing a blatant advertising opportunity. They should offer main line sponsor logos in the edit kit section for you to include on your team strip. This would provide konami with the revenue they seem desperate to generate with pop up ads and move it to a more descreet part of the game. There are loads of people who spend time editing players, teams and kits so there is a whole opportunity which if realised could remove the half time and pause menu adverts.
Gooooaaaal….
A nice new addition to the game for me would be customisable options on the triggers to allow for varying goal celebrations which would be available for a couple of seconds as the onion bag ripples. No doubt we’ll see some more memorable celebrations in South Africa through June and this, in my humble opinion, would be a much better addition to the game than seeing a realistic managers face or latest T90’s. It would be superb if you could have an option to annoy or please the fans or change the atmosphere when you notch, especially against human opposition. There should be an option to use a trigger and button configuration to complete a Nani style summersault, an Adebayor running the length of the pitch or swinging your top over the head for a booking with a stoppage time winner. These could also be associated with team mates or oppositions state of mind or form. Anybody who’s played football and been involved in a celebration of the opposition rubbing your nose in it makes you all find that extra little bit to get an equaliser or as team mates create a carnival feel with the forward flip celebrating the third goal.
Also, why are there not options in the game during the likes of corners to hold onto defenders/attackers or nudge the wall out a little on set plays. They would all risk a booking but sometimes its worth it. I’m not suggesting they should include options to cheat, as these could be penalised, similar to the diving option, and regular offenders could earn a reputation which is saved for future games, increasing the chances of bookings. It could be a risk worth taking as its things which occur in every game at every level. Why should we be ‘restricted’ in our game play? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not up for uber complicated controls, just more options when the balls out of play etc. Just an idea, any thoughts?
Well that’s your lot for two weeks; I look forward to receiving your comments and debates on points raised. For those who don’t want to join in the direct debate; comments are also welcome to doinotlikethat@hotmail.co.uk
