I don't personally care what footballers do with their free time, being it drunk or something else. They gotta relax too at times and live a normal life not surrounded by people and paparazzis.

But yet again they are professionals and it sets a bad example for others. If a famous footballer gets drunk it makes the news, but if it's some random person it never does. Journalists just trying to make the most of it.

In some ways they are. Lots of young people follow famous footballers' lives and might think stuff like that is cool and want to do the same. Some people do care, I don't necessarily.

Drinking is fun and cool.

I don't know if it's cool since I usually don't care about other people's opinions about my drinking unless it gets really bad. But yeah with the right people it's really fun, I simply cannot disagree with you.

But I was more aiming at the point that it's bad for your health and setting an example for destroying your health is not a good thing.

Well he should take lessons from Vidal then. But yet again Ribéry is basically a cripple now so there's not much to do with the guy.

Oh shut up. They aren't role models. And who cares if people follow their lead and drink?

Agreed. I hate when people want to force football players into role models.

Personally I think if someone crashes their car into a schoolbus or cheats on their wife or sleeps with an underage prostitute a la Ribery it is fine if they are drunk, because that is a perfectly accept excuse, but a scandal if they do it sober.

Considering the fact that you got drunk consciously it definitely does not make it as a valid excuse.
