Hello my fellow gamers. Now a lot of you here are complaining (well over at the official EA forums) that 360 FIFA sucks because there are no skills...WRONG! There are no 'easy executable' skills, but there are skills.

I have played the demo, and using and ONLY using my left-stick, by twiddling it around have pulled off a step-over/shift and with Ronaldinho have done some basic twiddles (anyone can do it), but have also done a 'pull back' with the ball and turned away swiftly. It was a trick.

I recorded the footage (Note: Video cams don't record TV good!)

http://files.filefront.com/360_skillswmv/;5988108;;/fileinfo.html

You'll have to look out for them to be performed, a bit of it is just twiddling around. but I have now performed the step-over 3 times! So it's not just my imagination.

Enjoy and try and do it yourself, I am 100% positive there are MORE tricks in the demo. I won this game 2-1, both goals had me screamin', this game is amazingly rewarding!!

dude its just part of the dribbling animation and the drag back is just the defender hitting the ball and the animation that follows is ronny's "first touch"
How is it possible that you did a trick with only pulling the left stick. That would mean you'd do tricks accidently even if you don't want to.
Stop fooling yourself :ewan:

I agree... There is nothing "tricky" about those moves...

I did plenty of these "context" based, and individual skills based moves and touches. I managed to do Bergkap's touch and turn in the opposite direction with Eto'o, 360 with Rooney, etc... This method of skills implementation is I believe partly taken over from PES... like Rabona shot which you can't do with every player and from every position, (or overhead kick), but it is context and skills sensitive...

I'm OK with that, it takes some randomness into the gameplay which is always welcome...

But if there is no control for things like drag backs, sidesteps, step overs etc... then that is just plain "c r a p"!!! Wrose is that you can't jostle or do any current gen stuff... WHY???

I honestly hope that skills are disabled in the demo, or that the demo was at the stage where no skills were implemented yet...

I say this because this demo is E3 06 version that I had a chance to see in EA VIP room in May... Hopefully something changed since then with the game...

The same version was demoed at TGS, but the version at X06 was more "advanced" state of the demo... I haven't had a chance to play it, but from what I saw, there is a little target for Free Kicks and Arrows for corners... Not sure if you can jostle at all during corners but at least gives me hope that the demo we play on our 360s is OLD... very old... otherwise I find it hard for EA to justify "2 year investment, biggest in football gaming history"... (I mean, if this is it, then "money wasted").

Bring on end of October, and see if I'll be using 7 day return policy at EB games or not...

well i think its better like this. Using the right trigger and flicking the right stick, as a defender closed me down, with Ronaldo of UTD, i meged the player then just ran around him. Not scripted, felt great and really rewarding.

Thats how skill moves should be, a rewarding but less excercised experience. Not like the old version as they didnt work. most of the time while executing them you got tackled!!

How much have EA payed you nickkyboy? All you seem to do is glorify FIFA. And you've done that since day 1 FIFA 07 X360 was announced.
