Bad things about fifa 08

I've just forced shut down my fifa 08 because for the 3rd time in a row i just lost the game by three goals to nil and not because i lost that angered me...but the manner of all three goal just sucks and proves how bad the gameplay in fifa 08 is.

The 1st one was the classic shot by the striker hits the keeper...comes off the post and a simple tap in by the opponent...if you play fifa 08 and since 07 this is a sick was how the pc seems to score cheap goals

the second thing that really suck is how is fifa08 all the players on the pc's side are able to tackle and pass in a single move...an obvious sign is how they just simply clear the ball into the air while looking the other way and somehow it falls right at their teammates feet. almost 90% of the game this happens.

the third one is how it seem like everytime my players are tackled they become disoriented and fall over while the pc's players can be tackle and can even recover in time to tackle the ball back...sucks!

one more thing is the speed of the player with the ball...when the pc's player has the ball they can run so fast but when our player has the ball...its like the ball is made of metal and it takes so much effort to move it forwards...

yes FIFA 08 sucks

World class...even when i go back to professional its the same manner of rubbish goals...

even the passing and thru balls are just rubbish to play with...fifa 07 was much better

Also, there is a huge limitation on the fifa.fat file, which means that we are not able to mod the game as much. I play FIFA 07 and am really happy with it. I can't even call it FIFA 07, lol, I've edited it so much.

It is soooo bad that i am going to change and buy pro evolution soccer from now on... I mean we are paying money for a photocopy of last years fifa... Such a shame! And that fifa fat limitation sucks....

@Tizmo... Do you know where i can find a roster update for fifa07 please? I mean with this years transfers please?

There will be a workaround for the fat problem I'm sure. The other thing about saying that moving the player with the ball forward is hard, is probably because you dont know **** about playing fifa and your gamepad sucks. Sure you can sprint, plus if you've got a functioning stick on the gamepad you can push the sprints even higher so I wouldnt say that it's hard to move a player.

i've been playing the fifa series since it was first launch...but what i'm saying is not that the gameplay is bad when it comes to sprints and dribbling...only that it sucks that there is a clear disadvantage when it comes to ur players and the pc's players...they can dribble faster and tackle better then us...even more obvious then even in fifa 08..tackling from behind...i sometimes just stop and view the instant replay wondering how the hell did the guy take the ball off me...it turns out it was a kick on my players leg and surprise surprise the free ball falls at the feet of the opposing team...

What you are saying is so true.

I have no idea what has gone into the minds of the guys at EA Sports while they were creating FIFA08. They have basically created another FIFA07, only that the graphical user interface has changed and the gameplay has gone horribly difficult. I have only played the game for a week now, and i am getting tired of it, fast.

I can easily foresee that this lastest FIFA installation might be the last straw for many who are just waiting to jump ship onto PES.

Is their a new PES out ?

Will be soon, 26 oct 2007. I'm playing the demo, is something else, really, and the moment I get used with controls, goooooodbye FIFA!

That is true. I also have been playing fifa since the beginning and in the last 3 series they didn't improve the game that much. I mean look at last years. They gave us really bad turfs. This year they improve it slightly and they gave us really really ugly balls. I mean these guys must not have eyse or something! How can you make a mistake like that?? How can you make a football game with ugly balls? Ugly turfs? I am soooo pissed off! I am glad PES is coming out soon!

PES has its own problems, mainly that if you live in North America it's release date will be closer to FIFA 09 than FIFA 08.

I don't think FIFA 08 is that bad, but I am a little miffed that they went the PES route and made it near impossible to beat the CPU on the dribble, and nearly as difficult to take the ball from him the other way. You can still move the ball using one touches to help account for this, but it loses a little fun when you can't trick your way by defenders.

The one area they did improve is that you can now use the left trick stick to make sharp cuts with the ball to wrong foot a defender. For example, if you're racing down the wing with the ball and a defender is running stride for stride with you, you can try and push the left stick back and toward the direction of goal, and you may be able to cut inside of him as he runs by, giving you a chance to get a shot or pass off. If you're having trouble creating chances, I would suggest using that to your advantage. Low crosses remain a better way to cross the ball in most circumstances, similar to 07. I haven't tried whether faking the keeper is any easier this time around (near impossible in 07 but easy in the PES series), usually when I have time I look to lob the keeper or on rushing teammate for the tap in. You can slide low shots by him, but it's a lot more difficult this year (even the ones that go in are usually touched by the keeper but bounce in anyway).

On defense I'd suggest using sliding tackles more often as it appears they've softened things up a bit there and let you get away with a lot more on that score. I've not found a way to effectively use the keeper switch yet, so for now you may be better off the old fashioned way.

The CPU never crosses and heads a goal in anymore, that is a little unrealistic. All the play in down the middle.

I think pitch is a bit too big in FIFA 08.

They DO cross from the wings! Well, from what i played...

mmmm, what mode are you playing in? I am in semi-pro, maybe in semi-pro the cpu doesnt cross the ball?? World class goalies are too unbeatable that why I am in Semi pro mode. Every game in world class is 1-0.

true guys...thats exactly what i'm trying to say...the pc's range of goals seems to be all ****...in one circumstance i had the whole man utd defence up against a lone striker micheal owen and not only did he manage to bring the ball down on his chest when confronted with nemanja vidic...he then was well tackle by evra but before i know it owen tackled evra but was tackled by rio but was tackled by owen again...and went on to score...

3 superb tackles by michael owen on rio, vidic and evra...think the strikers are better tackles then the defenders...think i'm going to try to sign owen and put him in my back four...ahahahah

I've got the game for Xbox 360 and in terms of gameplay I'm still only on semi pro, but pitch is too big, and GK's like Dida and Cech punt with their right foot.
Also editing players I hate how you have to make certain attributes worse to make certain attributes better, so you can't make somebody's overall rating better.

Oh and this is a little off topic, but I NEED this question to be answered PLEASE: On 360 is there a limit to how many players you can edit?
