Insanely Hard

Okay, EA Sports has officially screwed FIFA up. Like I know they attempted to make a good game and no doubt about it, they did, but they have made FIFA 08 INSANELY hard. Like this is ridiculous! Beyond bull****. I've been downgraded from Legendary to Semi Pro and this has officially destroyed whatever pride I had in FIFA.

I need some help guys, cause this is becoming stinkville. I'm 20 games into the season and sitting 15th with Man Utd! I can't seem to keep possession and my passes are constantly blocked! I can't determine the right power for my crosses and my crosses, oh, that's a story of itself! Let's say my crosses ALWAYS happen to end up behind my strikers. When the opposing team has the ball, I can't seem to get it. I try that jockey crap and it still doesn't work too well. I dunno what tactics to use that are good because apparently my old tactics from 07 don't seem to work anymore and basically, I can't get my through passes through! EVERYTHING I DO IS EITHER BEING STOPPED OR COUNTERED! I'm using a keyboard and getting annoyed beyond hell!

Any suggestions or strategies?

yeah, this has been discussed and discussed...

It takes practice - i'm halfway through my 1st season with notts forest and we're sitting pretty on 60 odd points just after xmas having beaten spurs and hammers in the cup.

There are things you do the same as in 07 and there are things you do differently like defending, timing your challenges, controls, crossing, through balls etc, all of which i feel are improvements in the game.

Just keep at it, or if it's all too much go back to 07. good luck.

Practice is key. You can't constantly attack and move like a train down the field. Fifa 08 is more like the real thing. Hard to score and a lot of midfield play. And you have to time your challenges properlly just like in real football.

EA did not screw up Fifa - they made it a lot more realistic and I for one am enjoying it, so much so that I gave up on PES.

Just having a real hard time editing this game - that's my only frustration with the game at the moment.

First get a compatible Joypad and do the following.

Set the game difficulty to World Class or Legendary.

Next Set the Keeper Difficulty to Amature.IMO in this difficulty the keepers are realistic,They make good saves and let in good shots like its supposed to,Giving you value for your shots.

Next Keep manual through ball on and have your Manual crossing off..If you are fine with it,You can have it on.

When playing this game remember not to keep using the sprint button.

While defending dont press and hold the pressure button and sprint button with a hope to win the ball.Cause chances are mostly it wont work. You got to stay with the opponent and time to tackle right to win the ball..Its called a delay system to make it realistic.

When you have the ball,Try to use as much as One-Two balls to get the players you need forward.

If you want to beat defenders,Dont just start sprinting.Just dribble with the ball and when he gets close sprint and use super-sprint..Mostly you will beat the defender.

While shooting try to use as much as Finesse shot as it works like a charm.Mostly while taking long shots. Its most likely you will get better value for your shot. N you can also try Lob shot in one on one situations,It works well.

Master the manual through ball system and you can play some amazing through passes.

Play a waiting game and try to keep as much as possession and keep passing back and forth. You are likely to get an opening.

When in free Kicks and one on one with your keeper,Try to control the keeper,Chances are you will save the ball more.

Well thats it for my Tips.

Remember this is a Foot-Ball sim and you got to think and play like Real Foot-ball.

Its not arcadey like Fifa 07,Give this game time and you will love it.

Hope this tutorial was helpful.

Enjoy!!!

BTW-I use CA and WP tactics.

yeah, the through ball is great - i slipped an unbelievable ball from deep in the midfield through to an on-rushing striker in a game this evening... i couldn't believe how perfect it was and how realistic it felt that i duffed the 1 on 1 with the keeper... had to laugh at that.

I'm actually happy now that Fifa 08 is this much of a challenge. The past few Fifas I've picked up and played straight away on World Class and beaten the game easily.

True it's been frustrating and I almost uninstalled it last week but this Fifa is great. You need to stick with it, get a decent control pad and appreciate they are trying to make this seem more real. No longer can you score the same old way every game.

I could write so much more but im off to play Liverpool vs Man Utd :P

If you follow my tips you will find yourself getting much better at the game.

I was france and beat germany 6-3 in a 20 mins match at legendary difficulty,I had the keepers in amature and my keeper and opponent keepers made some good saves.I got some really cool and well placed long shots in.

I am now going to reduce the difficulty to WC and increase keeper difficulty to semi-pro and see how it goes

The only unreallistic thing are the goalkeepers... Everyone said fifa 07 was too easy, ok, there's a harder game! Now you want an easier... I cant understand you guys...

is this the most realistic keeper difficulty in fifa08? i play on world class with the keeper difficulty set to professional... and yeah the long shots are seems to be impossible even by the good players as compared to pes2008 that even though you are playing on top player the long shots have higher probability for going into the goal than fifa08 (which sometimes it reminds me how the ball is like in fifa2004 :p) but yeah in pes there is just to much space :$

Yeah thats the most realistic but sometimes too easy.So i am upping it to semi-pro to see how it goes.

You have to play 20 mins games at least at first. 12 min games don't give you enough time to score on higher difficulty levels. I'm playing pro and on 12 mins I usually get no more than 3 to 4 scoring chances per game and with the totally unrealistic super keepers this is usually not enough to score. That's why you have to play longer matches because building up play and creating chances takes alot of time in this game because you have to pass and pass and pass alot till you find an opening with the skill moves useless most of the time.

Unfortunatly this makes the game too boring.

On semi-pro the game is rahter easy...too easy that again it becomes so boring.

I think EA should focus in next year's installment on making skill moves easier to execute at least for top players. I watch players like Ronaldo, Messi, Tevez, etc. and those players take on defenders easily and you'll rarely watch a game for them where they don't dribble past one or two defenders easily 2 or 3 times and maybe even more. So it's kindda stupid that those players are no different than any other in the game and that even the worst of defenders can easily tackle and strip them of the ball without me being able to do much about it.

You mean 20 mins total? Or half a match 20 mins?
