Italian attacks were much more dangerous as I consider Bogdan Lobont to be the Man of the Match and the penalty was controversial to say the least.

if you dont remember HAGI was sent off because of a stuppid dive, in wich there were no players around him and he just trew himself into the air as if someone hit him, thats why he was sent off

Anyway to the match...

I'm proud of the performance but I really feel like we were unlucky not to get the victory. I've never seen Mutu miss a penalty until that one, I could not believe my eyes. Lobont was absolutely phenomenal and so was his counterpart Buffon. I really liked the way our midfield played today, passing the ball around and finding spaces while still being able to instill our slow tempo onto the match, something we MUST do against the Dutch.

I believe we can definitely beat the Dutch. They have nothing to play for while we have EVERYTHING to play for. We beat the Dutch and we are qualified, doesn't matter what happens in the other game, we win and we are through, as simple as that.

The two countries who were expected not to qualify have proven the critics wrong. Romania are making a fight out of it and The Netherlands simply breezed through it all.

I just read somewhere that this was Mutu's first penalty miss at any level in six years. Amazing yet so frustrating that he couldn't punch that ball by Buffon. I have a feeling he will get his revenge against the Dutch.

he did not miss, buffon was just realy good, lucky his feet hit the ball otherwise it would have been in the net. and as MUTU said he did want to aim higher he just dint get it right. Its ok **** happens, i just hate how now everyone just puts all the blame on him, forgetting that he scored the first one, and played very well untill after the penalty miss, when he was realy dissapointed by himself. I do remember however goian swearing at him wich disgusted me. D. Niculae was the first to support him, and than seing piturca and the rest of the staff supporting and encouraging him made me happy. He will deffinatly want to beat the dutch.


Hope we will beat or get a draw with the dutch, and for a draw betwen italy and france. but its better if we just win with the dutch, because its in their own intrest to let the "weaker" team go through to the next round, because who knows, they might meet in the final

Goian didn't swear at him dummy, he went over to him and told him to stop sulking since Nicolita was about 5 seconds away from kicking the corner kick.

what a great match, too bad that Mutu missed the pen but I think the result is correct, seeing Toni's cancelled goal and the lot of big chances that Italy had. though I really wished we could have done it but I still keep my hopes high for the qualification.

really feel for Radoi, he'll be out for at least a month with the face injury.

If this will happen(let's hope not), France will be the team to qualify in the quarter finals, because they scored 2 goals, while Italy and Romania scored only 1. Don't forget that Romania can lose by 2 goals if France and Italy make a draw.

there ins' the offside in Toni's goal.. the penalty for Romania there isn't... or if you do it, you must do the penalty for Italy when Toni falls for the withhold of the romanian defens.. i hope now we can beat France and Holland beat or draw against Romania..

Being an avid fan of Football Manager, I should be familiar with those names but I haven't seen them play until this tournament. Contra is amazing for a player at his age.

None of them . The fact that Romania wasn't beaten by Italy witch is way a better team it's a great performance for you guys , but I think you won't qualify in the quarter finals because UEFA already warned Netherlands to play fair against you . Also I think Italy will have the force to beat France so the final tournament it's a little bit ended for you .

So... I thought this was a very entertaining game with some good build-up and attacking play from Romania in particular. While I had no particular favourite, I found it rather unfortunate that Mutu missed his penalty but you have to give Gigi Buffon his props... he must be the best Gk in the world.

It would be really nice to have a thread that discusses what it is supposed to instead of going cock-eyed like this one has... stay on the the topic, please guys?
