Well, I'm a little late, but can you tell me something about rap in Marseille? In Germany 99% of all French stuff you can get is from Paris.

Well... Rap in France is mostly between departments around Paris and Marseille, you're right. From Paris, I think you know Lunatic (Ali & Booba), Mafia K'1 Fry (Rohff, 113, Ideal J) or NTM (Joey Starr & Kool Shen)...

Rappers from Marseille are maybe the best at present. There are some "old school" crews like IAM (Akhenaton, Shurik'n) or Fonky Family (Sat, Menzo, Don Choa, Le Rat Luciano...) and more recent like Psy4 de la Rime (Soprano, Don Vincenzo, Segnor Alonzo).

Psy4 de la Rime is the most important group in Marseille at present in my opinion. They sold more than 400 000 albums on a indepedent label, "361" (label of Akhenaton => IAM). Soprano has made an album this year with a lot of success.. And now they have their own labels: Soprano = Street Skillz, Segnor Alonzo = TSE Music, Don Vincenzo = Section Hunter. These 3 labels are producing the best young rappers from Marseille, like La Swija, Mino, Lygne 26, Sale Equipe, Berretta, Lorenzo.. There is also a girl, Keny Arkana, she's so amazing.

So, Marseille is the best French city of rap now, even if there are very good young rappers in Paris: Youssoupha, Sefyu, Nessbeal, Mac Tyer..
And West of France (Le Havre, Normandy) is more and more known with amazing MC's like Médine, Bouchées Doubles, Aboubak'r.

IMO, best French rappers at present are Médine, Psy4 de la Rime, Youssoupha and Sefyu.

Who cares, Eminem hasn't had a good verse since he appeared on The Documentary with "We Ain't". But he produced that beat and there's a lot of **** that's annoying.

I'm waiting on The Game's "L.A.X.", T.I.'s "Paper Trail", and then two albums that will probably never come out. "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" and "Detox".

It makes sense that Raekwon would never release his album, because he'll never top the first one. Total classic.

I care lol, to me his worst rhymes are better than 99% of every single rapper alive, so even if his next album isn't the best ever, I still want to listen to Eminem's work.

respect to EW for unearthing this gem.

I've been listening to the artists from the Boot Camp Click for the last little while and I really can't get enough of Sean's Monkey Barz cd. It was an absolute surprise that he was the one who dropped the best album from that crew, man. You would've thought that Rock would've blown before him as a solo artist back in the mid 90s, or that Buck would've had the more superior and memorable releases, but this album to date is probably the best out of the bunch interms of solo efforts from that camp.

where does this classic take you guys back to? Whenever I hear it, it instantly transports me back to the summer of '97 in a banquet hall somewhere in Irvine California for the wedding of one of my favorite people in the world, an older cousin of mine who used to babysit me alot as a toddler.

Anyway. I was around 12 and I was totally bummed that this Goddamn usurper was taking her away from us to the east coast somewhere. I was just sitting as far away as possible from the rest of my relatives and attempting to block everything out by concentrating on the mixtape that was in my walkman that I'd sneaked into the place from the backseat of our car.

I wanted to feast on all the food that was laid out, but there was just something inside of me blocking me from doing it, I wanted to fuccking dance and grind up against all those broads, young or old, be in a celebratory mood like everyone else, but I just couldnt, I also wanted to rub one or two out to all the hot broads there in the washroom, but again, I just couldn't....I was just in an absolutely abysmal emo funk, man.

^^ good stuff, bro. I'm very familiar with GoG and his Blackalicious work and consider 'em to be one of the greats of this era, so I've heard that track before, but the latter I wasn't at all aware of...it's definitely phenomenal.

If you could hook me up with the instrumental, I'dreally appreciate it.

Anyway, the guy singing the chorus on that track has got an awesome voice.
