Idea: An unofficial FIFA 12 manual/tactics guide by members of soccergaming forums

Pretty simple idea, we here on soccergaming write a complete manual and tactics guide for FIFA12, multi platform. Topics would include:

*Documenting all controls, settings, and modes in the game.

*Tactical tips for all game modes.

*General FAQ/support section.

We compile the info into a PDF complete with screen shots, graphics, table of contents. We can start with English, and then translate to other languages.


End result, provide a great resource to all FIFA 12 players around the world, and boost the presence of soccergaming.com.

For those who r having problems with the new defending system,never contain an opponet.just jockey him and do a slide tackle or press him

That uses up sooooo much Energy!

Its more realistic.keep switchin players continously

That's true, i do find it soo much more realistic but the amount of energy drained out of my players sometimes just isnt worth it and i sit back and make them come AT ME! lol.

How do you defend then ?

I always jockey first then call teammate to contain the player once it get near.i leave the jockey key and contain/slide tackle him.

Well i dont chase him and close him down .. i let them run at me and then i close and press or slide when appropriate.

works 99% of the time.

with this you can achive possession ... i usualy get 70%-78% possession with those tactics hope it helps

could someone tell me how to make the goalkeeper dive to save penalties....i follow the instructions given in button help but it doesn't work...please help with this

Move the right stick on gamepad to dive in right/left direction. When you push right stick diagonally GK will dive to bottom corners or up corners.

As for never contain it's biggest mistake. DO CONTAIN. DO IT A LOT.

This new defending system is not that much of a deal as people make out. Never use tackle button if you're unsure if you will win ball for certain.

Jockey when AI/opponent is about to cross or out flanks to stop their movement.

Contain + teammate contain works best for me though. I use it a lot and tell you what, don't see much difference to Legacy defending here.

As AI will auto tackle when needed. You can apply pressure etc. And it's much easier to stop skill abusers that way... :P

Takes some practice, but after 1-2-3 games you can play like old style using new style :lol:

I didn't like the new tactical defending at all. I guess it's just a trial that will be developed in future titles. At the moment it's just a way to make the game more difficult and since I'm a casual player these days I'm really satisfied with the difficulty of the game using the legacy style defending.

Still - barring some moments of frustration - this is the best FIFA game ever and maybe the best football game ever made.

The thing is, using Legacy Defending, YOU CAN'T ACTUALY DEFEND!!! The attacking opponents are just walking past by my defenders, while they are just stuck on them, or they are stepping back and forth at the same spot with my defenders just staring at them! And I'm just playing at Professional Difficulty!!! I've started to think of using Tactical Defending, cause I'm fed up with all this situation...

Another little tip that has been working well for me when setting up tactics..

If you go through the players stats, it will tell you his preferd att/def....

eg...

Att - Medium, Def - Medium

or Att - low , Def - High....ect

It has worked fo me when setting his work rate....
