Att StevePitts my manager mode has just started crashing too

I've just started my 4th year in Manager mode and have found random crashes. The error I'm getting is a black screen with the cursor showing and then the windows unexpected error message. It happened once after I clicked on 'play game' , when I reloaded the game it happened again. Fortunately I had just saved a backup, which got me past that error, the next time it happened was I had just finished the game and the error occurred just after I clicked 'advance' after I the match rating screen. The only real thing I have been doing is lots of signing and selling un-contracted 'scouted' players and have got the game stuck a few times when I've tried to sign a 31st player so maybe too much player movement is the issue. Any help would be appreciated. I just noticed one of my 'scouted' players has his player growth info 'blacked' out i.e. the growth doesn't show. I tried simming passed the game and get the crash at the same point after the match rating screen.

Hi - I noticed that you were crashing when you hit Advance - that is exactly where mine crashes.

I got around it by getting rid of the training scheduled after that match. Did you have any training scheduled?

I have managed to schedule training subsequent to the crashes so I am trying to work out if it is a particular type of training that causes the crash. But I suspect it will have something to do with the player attributes and tiredness so will be very intermittant (but consistant once it appears).

Yep, that was it, training for my Goalie, I can't remember which type though.Thanks again.

I reckon that that player is the root cause of your problem. If you have one or more players out on loan the game will let you sign a 31st, 32nd, etc. player to your team but those players don't get entries in all of the tables that they should (including those for wages and XP growth) because the areas that hold those tables in the saved data file are not big enough for more than 30 entries and I suspect that this is why you see crashes when training is scheduled (training updates the XP growth table).

In FIFA 07 you could happily carry such players on your team, at no cost to you, but they would never develop above their default growth. My advice, however, has always been to sell them as soon as possible because you never know what problems might arise, and it appears that that advice is even more pertinent in FIFA 08.
