Can't start FIFA 2003 - goes back to desktop

I have a problem with ea sports fifa soccer 2003. Installation went smoothly. But whenever I start the game, the screen goes blank for a second or two then goes back to my desktop. What could be the problem?

Intel Pentium 4 (1.5ghz)
512 MB memory
64MB Nvidia GeForce 3 ti200
1.5 GB available disk space
Windows XP Professional

updated video driver to: Nvidia 53.03
updated DirectX to: DirectX 9.0b

My PC works great with ea sports nba live 2004, can't figure out why won't run fifa 2003. PLEASE HELP!

take the "FIFA 2003 exe" from the cd....and over write the one thats in the main Fifa folder...........i had this problem and doing this cured the problem........

u know what i had the same problem...on my older pc
it was a celeron pc with a bad grafix card that could support only games upto fifa2002
but when i changed my pc to
amd athlon xp 2400
win 98
512 mb
nvidia geforce 2 with 32 mb memory

it worked awesome.before i did that it kept crashing to desktop on my old pc.the screen would go black and then it would come to the desktop

but as pede54 says....u can copy and paste fifa2003.exe in the fifa2003\ main folder...a friend told me that it would work

hmmm... try what pede says, the spec of your computer is more than adequate
