[DOWNLOAD] Editing Climatic Effects

For those modders who want to change how rain or snow behave ingame, you can do it with the following files in data3.big:

rain_0.lnx
rain_1.lnx
snow_0.lnx
snow_1.lnx

With these files, which can be opened with any hex editor as PSPad, you can change tons of parameters. In my case I just changed the amount of particles (and the texture opacity), allowing to have:

Better Rain: http://www49.zippyshare.com/v/22266818/file.html

No Rain: http://www53.zippyshare.com/v/64593411/file.html

But I know some people here who understand better the terminology will achieve much better results than mine.

GReat tool mate. Could u show some screens?

some details about this would be useful indeed. I like to play in overcast, but the boots are poorly coloured. It would be nice to be able to make them look like in a sunny day.

Yeah boots are aweful in overcast, rainy, night games ! I thought I was the only one to have this problem :S

I really enjoyed.
I have a request if you think it is possible.
The turf color on Rainy matches is perfect... I wonder if its possible to play Overcast matches with Rainy turf color (darker green like right side of pic)

Unless its placebo, I notice the rain particles on your version are far batter than vanilla. Your aware that its raining but its not "droplets thrown into the camera & line of sight" for the sake of it now :) I can play and rain becomes secondary to the game-play, nice and subtle and less obvious.

Good job, interesting to see any other results that can come from this.

Yep, to allow better looking particles I just reduced textures opacity to 33% in Photoshop. The other files are for other aspects like number of particles, speed, direction... but I'm not sure how many of them are actually applied ingame.

BTW, I have to say thanks to Rinaldo and his great tools, which allowed me to develop these mods. (Jenkey one caused ingame CTD's after importing textures).

Ok cool.

Well the opacity change is the right one compared to vanilla. I dont have much issue of the particle code/rate/amount/size of rain that I think those files may influence, but opacity was a good change.

I thought I would reply as there hasn't been much feedback ;)

I completely agree, Overcast turf looks too bright. Should be more dark like rain games.

Not sure these files will make changes to the pitch color as that seems to be the engine lighting (for example the dark boots problem) so unless this modifies lighting and overrides values im not sure, would love to see some way to override lighting in the engine, I could be wrong though, and would like to be :)

Very good! I think it should have a little bit more raindrops, and the air should be a little bit more foggy, but it improves the default.

Does someone know something about the file 'pitchcolor_1_textures.rx3'? It's also inside the data3.big. Maybe it could be modded to achieve better turf textures.

Got any screens of this?

Also the lighting for sunny day is spot on, but the lighting for night time isn't as vibrant - I think that if there's a way to copy the lighting for sunny day to night time matches would give the floodlit matches a much more vibrant look.

One other thing, does this affect the ball physics for rainy matches? EA seem to think that all wet matches are played on waterlogged pitches...

i was messing around trying to adjust lighting and i found a type of workaround that works decently, i have not yet found the actual lighting files.

in each stadium container there are pitch covmaps, similar to older fifa games but they are now inside the container rather than stored in its own rx3/fsh file.

you can adjust it to be lighter or darker but the results don't always come out the best.

the bad news is you have to do it for every stadium for day and night.

somewhere around 150+ textures to edit and test, i gave up.

Please, show us your results, EA f**ked up the lightining this year.
