Nahhhh!
PolishPower:

Russia is 7th and only Checzh Republic can pass through only if they would win 5 games in Eurocups in spring. They have two teams left in Eurocups, so they have pretty good chance of passing by Russian League. I don't even know where you got these ratings.

Why don't you all shut up, and wait for Euro 2000, then we'll see whose league has the best influence on the national team--And it definately won't be TURKEY???!!!! or Poland.

1. Italy
2. Spain
3. England
4. France
5. Germany
6. Holland
7. Turkey (they will be soon in the top 5)
8. Belgium
9. Portugal
10.Greece

For me these are the leagues with the most popular teams, and where the good players want to play. look

The other nations are only trying to sell their good players and making money.
For example: Yugoslavia. If they wouldn't sell all their players, they would be in the top 10, I think.

Leagues like Croatia, Russia, Checzh. Rep., Ukraine or Scotland defintely not belong to the top 10.

and the others: Switzerland, Israel, Sweden, Norway and.. they don't know what football (soccer) is.

Lord,
I do agree that Italy is the only nation with at least four serious title contenders. But i also believe that England only really have Arsenal and Manu seriously fighting for the title but their are many teams up there: Leeds, Liverpool, Sunderland, Chelsea and Westham and all of those teams would do well in europe.

As for the SPL we have 4 meets between the Glasgow giants(who both diserve a CL spot)and Hearts would do well in the uefa cup.

Last 10 years Champions at English Championship:

Manchester - 5
Arsenal - 2
Blackburn - 1
Leeds - 1
Liverpool - 1

5 champions, but Manchester with 50%. Not as bad as Spain, but not too competitive.
I am not saying it is not good, just want to discuss this point of English (and most Europe leagues) that I think is their worst point.

Jewell read my post again...

Pahan-
how is Russia 7th if Portugal is currently 7th and have a team still playing in the Champions League?

Also can you tell what list are you looking at? this years current list? They determine European cup spots are based on most recent 5 seasons, not just the most recent one, im sure you know that.

The list Im looking at is the UEFA list that was published in June 99.

Gooner Scotland has to get up to number 15 on the list to get a shot at two spots in champions league.

Just a little somethin...

Israel's top teams have been making steady progress in Europe in the past few years, once in a while making a surprise win over respectable teams. Not only this year's Hapoel Haifa, but Maccabi Haifa, for example, who beat Parma and Paris St. Germaine (I forget when - just 2 or 3 years ago) and climbed to quarter-final Cup Holders' Cup or something. Not bad for a tiny club from a tiny country.

Is there a(n official) ranking for leagues? I think Israel should be higher than 27th there...
