fifa 2001 - windows xp problems

Hi im seem to be getting problems with fifa 2001 and i think its because im running windows xp

for example SOMETIMES in the game when different game modes or click anywhere for that matter fifa just freezes ! this can happen very frequently at times

also when its loading into a game it takes be back to the desktop occasionally
anyone else got these problems ? and know of a way to fix em
