With the news of EA changing this and changing that for the new FIFA 2003, I am actually quite optimistic that the game would actually be better than what we are used to expect.
However, this has brought me to light to a very awkward perspective of the situation. If they made the new game completely from scratch (as they have sort of claimed), would the file formats be completely different from all the previous versions of FIFA? i.e. making editing a lot more difficult.
Just imagine this, the image formats are all different from what we have seen before, EA Graph wont open them, they aren't fsh files or anything. So, we have to figure out a whole new way to try to edit the images. That would mean at least a few months before real editing of kits and other graphics can begin.
Or, the roster files are in a completely different format, so that makes it really hard for anybody to try to figure out where everything is stored, and what everything means. This means that a roster editor could possibly be never released for FIFA 2003. Now, that would be a catastrophe IMO, as I like FIFA editing more than FIFA gaming
I doubt if this would actually happen, but I am nearly sure that EA would do one thing: that is to make editing more difficult. i.e. more files in .big and a lot of data stored in the executable, making edited executables useless with updates (e.g. in the case of 3gk and 4gk)
I am actually waiting eagerly for the demo, not mainly because I want to play it, but actually to see what the file formats are like.
