FIFA runs choppily on my system...what can I do to make it better?

Hi, FIFA runs very choppily on my laptop (it's old and I've dropped it a couple of times). I cleaned out my hardrive and installed gameboost and play it with gameboost (shutting off every application/task in the background), which helped a lot, but it's still too choppy. Is there a cost-effective solution towards making it run just fine? I'm in South Korea, btw, which may or may not make things like graphics cards cheap (I have no idea). I have a better suggest for you;
Buy a console (ps3 or xbox 360 slim) and enjoy.
