I was browsing through my U18 squad at Chelsea for no apparant reason (on the gold demo) and look what I came accross! Take a look at those 20s and 18s and things. Anyway, my regular left midfielder was injured so I thought I might aswell give him a run out - and he went and played a 10 out of 10 scoring two magnificant goals! Anyway, the morale is, always look in yours U18s :p

(I cut the middle bit out cos the file was to big otherwise)

Aye lol. To what extent are the stats fixed and to what extent randomised? I mean, is it all players below a certain age or value or something?

For FM 2005, I have no solid clue yet, but for CM 03/04 it was a lot like this:

Current and potential ability are set randomly as 0 (1-200), -1 (120-160), or -2 (160-200). There is some variance outside that given area for -1 and -2. Random stats are set as 0 (1-20).

Added to that, all players with set stats and ability also had some variance in their stats when starting every new game. Very little, though. Regens have 100% random stats, other than their nationality.

Mostly players in lower teams (reserves, under 18s, third division fringe players and below) are random in stats. Potential ability is fixed in quite a lot of players, 60-70% even, maybe, and current ability in even more.

For FM 2005, I presume it will be about the same, and there will be about as many players with random stats. This to keep the game interesting in earlier stages.

FM now uses a potential from 0 to -10, all with smaller ranges now.

Not sure about regens as its nothing like the CM3 series, a lot more random don't know if anything stays the same.

Thought I should add tho, that if you're playing the same quickstart, than the stats will be the same, a quickstart randomises nothing, as it is basically just a save game..

yes correct, basically all players are the same AND you'll have the same ammount of players as anyone else too.

IF you start with the same quickstart.

TROD.

I know that, that's why I said 'Aye, lol', lol :p

I've never been 100% on the potential ability thing though so thanx Ruud :)

Anyway, Grant looks to be somewhat of a star, his overall shooting is amazing.

Yeah, he does score loads from outside the box. There are some quite low stats their too, but I am sure he will blossom into a great player, though if what Ruud says is right, he probably wont be nearly as good ever again.
