Ok to start off. I played soccer since I was 5, I played on many traveling teams and played on Rutgers Skarlet Knights youth team here in New Jersey which featured some of the players on that team, I'm not being cocky just giving you all a background.

I played with them for a very long time, got a new coach, he kicked us all off...they went on a losing season and they wanted me back but I said no. It's been about 5-6 years since I've last played and during those 5-6 years I picked up basketball and I gained alot of weight. I'm 6'4, 235 right now. I'm still athletic as I was years ago except my energy isn't as good and my speed went down of course.

I've been wanting to get back into soccer and have gone to the soccer fields to run around, practice on my game and so on.

Now I need to shed thease pounds off. lol and I know constant running isn't going to help. Any type of diet plans that are out there that's sold or plus any type of work out that would go with it, perhaps some of you have made up your own type of diet with a work out schedule? I'd be interested in knowing.

As far as my body goes like I said, need to shed the pounds, my legs are rock solid as they've been for a long time so I'm not worried about them but my mid section and upper body I'd like to get a work out on, including my speed. I've got good accelration but my over all speed is what sucks.

Also about home gym systems, been thinking of getting a bowflex. Do any of you think getting one of those all to gether home gym systems is good? Thank you everyone.

Don't eat anything fatty and burn more calories than you take in.

Also, in order to bump up your metabolism, you should consider eating more small meals instead of a few big meals. Or if you want to be really hardcore, eat between 100 and 150 calories every hour you are awake.

this happened to me i used to play soccer when i was a kid i played soccer in a youth soccer league i played every year up until 4th grade when my parents didnt hav the money for me to enroll there every year so then i had nuthing to do i was always inside and when i was outside i started playing basketball with the neighborhood kids i would always long to play soccer but didnt have a ball so sumtimes i juggled the basketball around but any way it got to sixth grade when i started playing soccer for my school the season was freaky short and i was still out of shape i did get better with cardiovascular work outs at practice and i was a starting foward for my team but then as the soccer season left i started gaining weight so then i started exercisingbut i barely ever ran during the 7th grade soccer season i finally got a ball and saw how much i had lost so now to get my stamina back i do long jogs and sprints i can cross good and my heading is on the mark my shooting could be better and my dribbilling is really good ever since i watched joga bonito so i think sprinting, jogging, and juggling helps u get back into soccer and improve
