I am venting my anger.

I tried to like PES3. I really did. I wanted to love it. But its ****.

Its so bloody frustrating. Yes its much more difficult to master than FIFA which makes it more challenging and Im all for that but...

1) Why is your Goalkeeper so useless? Jeez half the time they can't catch the ball!

2a) Slide Tackles. Yes take a lot more skill and I like that but all too often I make a perfectly good challenge and I conceed a free-
kick
2b) The Advantage Rule. Nearly all the bloody time the Advantage is played when there is no advantage to be had. Grrrrrrr.

3a) What is it with players randomly starring at the ball? Half the time the AI is good and the players act intelligently. But all too often that crucial move is broken down because one of your players just stares at the ball and nothing I can do will poesses him to move.
3b) Players who walk towards a thru-ball when Im desperatley trying to get them to run.

4) When your diagonally opposite the area and you want to play a ball into the box (i.e. your not running down the touchline). It goes straight back to the defense when im not even pressing in that direction!

5) The commentry. Wow its worse than those early football games. A minor annoyance I know but FIFA managed to perfect commentry years a go so why does PES3 tell me its an excellent pass when its gone straight to the other team. Scripted crap. And if I hear the phrase "they're turning the screw now" said compleltey at random again my fist is going through the screen. The commentators sound like they've gone senile.

Is this just me? Am I just crap at this game? I've put a lot of time and effort into it, played through all the Training and got 5 stars in everything yet for the love of it trying to win is just so damn annoying its not fun. Is this just the PC version?

*sighs*

I really don't want to go back to FIFA and all you PES fans know why.

At least its fun though :(

That`s what makes PES today. The chalenging gameplay . . . You can`t just dribble past 10 players, the runnin` pace, the angles of the ball on the ground makes it harder than any footy gamin` today. FIFA can claim all they want about being a superior simulation gameplay, but still they got the ball glued to the player`s feet.

It's probably just you ,Butler.

I play on 5 stars (max difficulty) all the time and I rarely lose.

1)The keeper isn't useless.Sometimes he can't do anything. It's just the way it is.You can't expect the keeper to fix all your errors in defense.

2a)Avoid doing it that way or just run along with the player.Eventually he'll turn around and when he does ,THEN make the tackle.Don't do what doesn't work.

2b)You're right. It's crap.I could've scored dozens of goal thanks to adv but the ref won't let me.And he never whistles when I can't in any way continue my attack because there ain't no one there to collect the ball.Damn.

3a)That's what L1 is for.Switching players.
3b)Same as 3a.

4)Huh?Never had that happening.Hold L1 while crossing.Might work. But I've never had any of my players return the ball to my own goal/half when I'm not facing that direction.

5)Wouldn't know.I turned off the Japanese dude.He talks way to fast.

Whatever you do ,DON'T go back to FIFA.

I dunno why you can't win.Especially when you have completed all training sessions. As I said ,I always play at the hardest difficulty and mostly win.And I haven't completed any training ,except for the free kicks ,which I love.I've perfected fk's but don't have the patience nor the time for anything else.

You need to learn the controls butler.

In PES3 you can trap the ball on your thigh, flick it over your head, volley it to a team mate, trap it on his foot (difficult but possible), dummy passes and shots then lob the ball to yourself or for a shot, spin away from players many different ways including drag backs and flicks, cross with curl, dummy crosses, cross at different heights and speeds, dummy the ball completely when coming to you, flick it, tap it, head it in any direction at different heights, control players stood still by over-riding them, control the keeper if required..... need I go on. There are thousands of ways you can score in PES3 and the gameplay is much like real life. I've yet to see any Fifa game which gives any realism.

Basically PES3 with the downloads available on the forums is awesome. There will be a commentary patch in the near future I'm sure.

I have both games (this and Fifa). They both have as many frustrations, but I still play Fifa about 80% of the time.

Unfortunately, you have to have played about 20 hrs of PES until you really get the total feel of the game. That is the thing that most turned me off when I first started the PES series... I just couldn't get it and the game just seemed like it wouldn't respond.

After a few games I was ready to take the game back, but then... It clicked. After about 5-6 hours I finally scored a goal (I was playing on 3 stars with Italy).

Slowly as I adjusted to the controls I realized I was playing real football and spending no time looking for the right buttons but using my brain to try and break down the defense, or clog the offense.

Give it time. As you get used to the game you will realize it is the best ever.

After 200+ hours of PES games, I am still challenged and having a blast.

If you find it hard to get to grips with PES, then try starting on one of the easy settings (1 or 2 stars) just so you can get to learn the best ways of passing, scoring etc. Then, having mastered the easy difficulty, 3-5 stars won't seem so daunting.

To fix your problem number 4 change the LONG PASS MODE option to type 2. That should fix it.

One tip you may/maynot know... tapping the longpass button 3 times quickly while running down the wing will drill the ball across the area ON THE GROUND I find this most useful!

The nice thing is that you really can, and often have to build play up to grab a chance at goal.

Keepers are a bit iffy sometimes. Especially in wet weather.

Keepers are crazy.Recently I've seen some really stupid interventions.

I was playing ML against Monaco and an easy ball was bouncing it's way toward my keeper. The ball would've been no problem if my keeper didn't decide he should go get it (even tho it'd come to him).He ran at the ball ,jumped to catch it ,of course it bounced off him and went to Rothen who didn't complain.I lose 1-2.God damnit.

Only thing im going to comment on that hasnt been touched,i hated that the most in fifa 2004 is the lack of freekicks,i do the dirtiest slide tackles from behind, the side,in front and the referee rarely gives a freekick, yet i can get 15 penaties a season.
