Posting images into threads

I know this may sound like a basic function but could somebody please tell me how to post an image onto these threads and what format of the image .jpeg, .png etc.

If someone would be kind enough to do this I would be able to post a possible solution to FIFA 11 crashing randomly that a lot of guys are having problems with......
