Sim Match Mode Flawed....

Posting here after a long time. I am playing FIFA for a month now. Juggling office and game is quite tough!

So I started my career with Bristol Rovers way down in League 2, and now i am promoted to the EPL and playing in EPL for about 3 seasons. But i whenever i do a sim match I lose 90% of the time. Even if my team is in form or on a winning streak or even if the team is from a lower league. But that is even ok.

My main surprise is when a 9 man team beats an opponent 3-1! I am surprised to see the fact the even when my opponent is a bottom of the league team and they go down to 10 men they win. And another thing i noticed is that whenever a team gets a red card that team scores. Weather its me or the opponent! I dont know if you guys have noticed this strange thing in there.

Even a top side would find it difficult to beat another team with 10 men.

Mate, I have the same issues. You seem to get blown away more when teams like Man United get a red card. I am using bristol city. Got promoted to the Prem and in my first season in 3rd place at the moment. I have won like 15 games in a row. I only sim games against the top 4 sides to ensure i don't win the league by like 20 points. In those simmed games I always get massacred. Maybe it's because most of my squad are in the mid to high 60's in ratings. I am trying to test a formation that will help me to get a draw sometimes in games. something like a 5-5-0 with lots of possession. Then again, when I was in the championship i never won a single simulated match even when i was unbeaten for like 20 games against opposition teams that had players with similiar ratings to my own team. Will do some tests and give you some feedback on formations to use. before the Next Gen on pc if you used 4-3-3 formation from fifa 07 to fifa 10 in you simulated games you won most games and won by a good margin. Gonna tinker with formations and tactics in an alternative career mode and then see what I can do in my "real" manager mode. See if there is a special formation out there that will result in more wins or just being able to get draws in some simulated matches. Will get back with results soon.

The Sim Match is somewhat illogical to me. You are talking about 60's... It doesn't even work with players on 70's. My team is something around an average of 75! And still i get hammered by other teams. EPL "Top 6" would beat me around 4-0 or more even with 10 men. And even teams like Boro, Everton, West Ham, Stoke and the likes hammer me most of the times.

Worst thing is... the team getting a red card scores a goal almost with 10 mins of the red card... keep simming and you would notice this flaw as well.

All i do keep simming so that i get the result a bit favorable.

To add to that... I have a 4 star team now!

Really? How do you improve your players? I keep playing my crap players and they have remained in the 60's!!!!! Only Nicky Maynard has gotten to 80 and Brett Pitman have grown much! True, simulation is a pain!

I just didn't get instant promotion from the leagues! I stayed in League 2 for 1 season. League 1 for 3 seasons and Championship for 2 seasons. And EPL for 3 seasons now. Over the years every transfer window i bought one or two players.

My board level is Legendary. And they hardly give you money to spend. SO i had to do with a lot of Free Agents during the initial stages. Look for them. Sometimes you can hit the Carlos*pot with them. I got a German striker of 74 when i was in League 1. Sold him last year as he was aging. He banged in the goals coz on average League 1 players are around their mid 60's. Got my GK, main CB, LB from there and tons of other players. At least you can buy them and sell them next year and make the dough! Also try to have a good FA Cup run. It gives you a lot of cash.

The guys you have now... may not grow much. You just have to buy talent. Or produce them through scouts.

Apples and oranges. First, if you're winning 20 games in a row, it sounds like you need to up the difficulty level, heh. Second, the sim programming doesn't take into account the difficulty level you're playing on. It's going to calculate match results based solely on player ratings.

Also the red card thing is another weird stuff!

Although in my 3rd season in the EPL, I am able to win a few with Sim mode. The percentages have dropped (of losing).

It does sound like there are inconsistencies in the sim programming. But I was specifically responding to the comment about winning 20 games in a row. Dominating the league in User Mode has absolutely nothing to do with how Sim Mode results will play out.

Well mate I'm sure I said I was unbeaten. Not that I had won all 20 games. My teams is fourth in the Prem. You need to read all of what I said. Anyway, I've tried quite a few formations...still the 5-5-0 is best for getting draws. Will test some more and respond by tomorrow.

Any solution to this... I too chose Bristol Rovers, am in my 5th season, 4 star team and I can't get promoted simming matches. No matter what I do, I lose to some ridiculous teams ridiculously.
