Excuse my ignorance, but could you tell me how I do that? I totally expect to be told off for not knowing ...........

Try bangus' suggestion. Your game crashed because although you have deleted the original db, the game still looks the db inside the data0.big file, use the regenerator to change the bh files so the game will look for the files/db at the right folder.

copy a clean data0 from a backup or disc.

go to my thread & download my db.

once downloaded, extract it & put it at this path.
CProgram Files\EA Sports\FIFA 12\Game\data

now open up finalbig4 & select data0.big.
find fifa_ng_db & fifa_ng_db-meta

delete them & save the big file.

then open up locale.big in the loc folder
find eng_db & eng_db-meta

delete them & save the big file.

then run the regenerator.

then edit the db how you want to w/ dbm11 & then make sure you save the db.

that explains why you dont crash w/ the backup clean data0.big if you never regenerated after you deleted the files from the bigs.

no, no need to replace them & thats why you crashed because when you replaced them you didnt recompress the db.

just create a folder called

db

put the 2 db files in it & put the db folder in the data folder & regenerate.

i would suggest using my db as all leagues, teams & tournaments have the correct names & i also took the time to assign home stadium names for every team in the game for a little more realism.

if you use my db, make sure to delete the 2 eng related db files from locale big & put my loc folder in the data folder & regenerate.

now i have to get back to testing my beta ai.

Thanks regularcat bangus & kornetbeef for your rapid reply to my enquiry! I now understand that using the regenerator makes FIFA look in the data/db folder for the db rather than the 1 inside the BIG file. I'm away to do some editing Thanks once again everyone!
