Mourinho lashes out on Makelele

Vedran-10

I don't understand what rights the French FA have to forbid Makelele to play for his club. It's beyond me.

I thought every player can choose if he wants to play for his NT.

in Portugal, we don't think Mourinho's an idiot, and he said twice he would be league champion with porto and he was. twice.

what we're saying is that a football federation not allowing a player to play in his team just because he doesn't want to play for his country anymore is plain old stupid..

Mourinho says Makélélé wants to retire, and Domenech says Makélélé wants to continue... I don't know who is telling the truth, but using word "slave" is stupid.

Here, Makélélé is saying he wants to retire, that it's difficult to deal with so many games but has no other option than to continue.

Also, it's obvious Mourinho uses that word to create impact, meaning that Makélélé isn't forced to do slavery work, it's not to be taken literally, geez.

Yaaaaaawn... :corn:

Lets not even go there, please...I dont want this to turn into another EPL vs Portugese league or English vs Portugese war.

it's more of a Mourinho-lover vs. Mourinho-hater type war.. Not sure how nationality got in there....although I think a lot of the controversy that Mourinho stirs up in England is partly due to differences in football culture between Portugal and England. Having a coach openly slam refs, other coaches, club presidents, general trash-talk, etc is pretty normal in Portugal. It's what sells newspapers. I think a lot of people are more used to things being a bit more cordial in England.

...and for the record, I don't like Mourinho much as a person and I've always thought he was a dick since his Porto days, but I also don't think he's necessarily a moron. Moron would indicate he's stupid, which he's clearly not..

Moroninho obviously isn't stupid, his trophies tell you that. But he has a personality type which, when against you, you cant help but hate. But smoove posting those stats could easily spark something.

I could say that the Portugese league is weaker than the premier league, which will draw the whole Portugese SG contingent(about 2 billion strong) on me, then I could say that we were cheated out of the CL in 2004(which we were) but that would just spark more crap.

See where I'm going with this?

well it is, I think you'd have trouble finding anyone with any sense (even from the 2 billion) that would dispute that.

well the TV images don't lie, although I wouldn't call it cheated, more like the ref f*cked you over... true.

Be careful man, you're genralizing a bit. That's what can "spark crap" alright..

Mourinho says what he thinks. What you see is what you get. At least he comes right out with whatever is bothering him and lets the whole world know. He is not the first manager in England to act like this, there have been and still are many coaches who upset people by telling the truth. What about Niel Warnock at Sheffield United? He speaks his mind, he always has. Constantly embroiled in controversy just because he will not be a "good boy" and will not behave like the pussy FA would like him to, and how do people treat him? Like he's one of the lads, no different from the rest of us where his club is concerned. Hypocrisy.

I like players with passion for Chelsea, and I want my manager/ coach to have passion for the club too. Maurinho is fully entitled to say what he wants, whenever he wants. I thought that was a basic right in a democracy. He is not like some managers that I could name who suck up to the FA and sort things out with them "over a drink". Jose doen't kiss ass like some EPL managers.

Has Ferguson never shouted his gob off when something has pissed him off? Of course he has. Atkinson ,Keegan, Dalgliesh, Robson (both of them), Sparky Hughes, Redknapp, the list is endless and timeless. The only difference between everyone else and Jose is that he is the Manager of Chelsea and he is Portuguese.

If he was the manager at your club, you would fu<kin' love it. He isn't, so instead you hate him. Do we or he care? Not a bit, not one little bit. ;)

That's your opinion, I have mine. Anyways, I know Mourinho isn't as stupid as he wants to show. But Makélélé could say "I stop", we'll understand! He has already done that in 2004... But problem is he's saying nothing which can be understood by 2 parts, Chelsea and France NT.

We need Makélélé to qualify to Euro 2008 IMO. But if he wants to retire, he can do what he wants. After, suspension games with Chelsea, I agree it's ridiculous...

Well as I understand it, Makalele told Domenech after the World Cup final that he will quit the National team for good. It was a verbal resignation and now Domenech is saying that Makaklele did not put his intentions in writing so as far as Domenech is concerned, Makalele is still available to be called up for the French team. Makalele has said this week that he will play for France if thats what he has to do to avoid trouble, but he would prefer to retire from the National team, because of his age he said that playing International games will make his season difficult to endure. Personally I would think that a verbal resignation should be good enough for Domenech and the FFF. I think it shows very little gratitude and respect to Makekle to force him to play when he does not want to.

It's not like you don't have other stars on the bench who can replace him though... it's just one player.

Not ture, Maka would be a huge lost for Chelsea, no-one can replicate his role like he does. Although I'd give Essien a go there.

I still don't get why Domenech is trying to force Maka to play for France. The man said he wants to retire. Let it go, he doesn't want to play for you. God:rolleyes:
