Yeah, it doesn't really mean anything. Now if they were turning over Costa Rican and MLS teams that way I'd worry, but that won't happen. Soccer's growing in PR but it still has a ways to go.

Miguel Layun is special. He'll be in Europe soon, America is going to (rightfully) ask a steep price though.

He only had loan offers to Italy this window. Hopefully he keeps up the level of play. He already has the passport so it would be easy to sell him.

Chivas USA going on hiatus for two years. I don't think they'll be back in LA after that, seems like a blow off period to me. I expect they'll pop up again in San Diego, Arizona, or Vegas.

That'd be ideal, they do have fans even if there aren't a ton of them. This whole thing sucks for them.

Exactly. That team was a disaster from the start, and if you look at their Mexican counterpart it's easy to see why. It should do much better under new stewardship. The stadium is a huge necessity though.

Revs will play either LA or Seattle in the MLS Cup final. Henry vs. Donovan would've been kind of cool though.

Also, MLS will have 12 (of 20) teams in the playoffs next year. Regular season seems kind of worthless.

surprised Ilaje or Bobby haven't posted about Donovan ... anyway, I was happy for him, going out on top:

he generally played sh!t in the final, but that shouldn't distract from a career that made him the first male American soccer superstar ...

he claimed in the post-match interview that he'll be back, just not as a player ... has he been working on his coaching badges? or is he going to pull a Lalas?

Superstar? Even considering him a household name is a bit of a stretch.

He raped Mexico every chance he had. If I was a Mexican fan I wouldn't like him either. Doesn't take away credit from his great career though.

You're funny. I'm not even discrediting him as a Mexican; he's without a doubt the best American soccer player ever. That said, soccer just isn't that popular here to consider him a superstar. That's why the MLS is hard to take seriously. Aside from Concacaf he didn't really accomplish anything. The same can be said about 98% of Mexican players as well.

I'm not even sure why I bothered to respond to you of all people, but there you have it. You can go hide for another 14 months now.
