2 installations of FIFA07?

I tried searching, but to no avail. Basically, is it possible to have two installations of FIFA07 on 1 computer? If so, then editing and making patches etc. would be much easier.

i don't think it's possible... maybe having a backup of the data folder and moving it :p

Which is practically what he meant i think. Just copy the whole FIFA07 folder in your programs folder and rename the one you don't want to use when you play. If you want to play the other one just swap names.

Since there is only one set of registry entries then the simple answer is No.

If you really want two separate installations in disparate locations (on different partitions, say) then you could install into one location, save the registry entries (regedit will export the whole of a key into a .reg file) and then delete them, install into the second location, and then export the new registry entries. You could then have a couple of fairly simple batch files to start FIFA with either one set of registry entries or the other (you can run regedit from the command line to import a .reg file). If doing things this way I would also recommend separate Windows users so that you could keep the data separate too.

However, that is probably more complicated than you need to make it and the easier solution (in terms of setup) would be to just take a full copy of the FIFA 07 directories in both program files and your my documents structure and then create batch files to switch between them (by renaming the directories, so it will take no time at all). I used to do something similar with the older versions of FIFA (before they started using user-specific data folders) to keep my game data separate from my son's, but all of those batch files were written for JP Software's command line rather than the default Windows one(s) so probably won't be much help

Ok, so if copy-paste the FIFA07 directories, will it mess up any of the edits I have made? If I understood it correctly, it shouldn't, but I just want to make sure.

Assuming that you don't have the game, or any FIFA editing tools, running at the time, then all you are doing is taking a copy of the data as it stands at that point, which should be no problem at all. I regularly copy my FIFA 07 data directory into a Backups directory without any trouble, and have restored files from that copied structure without issue.

Partition your hard drive
That was suitably vague - what exactly are you suggesting?? Just splitting the disk doesn't help at all, because you can still only have a single instance of FIFA 07 installed (see my comments above about swapping registry entries). The only way I can see it helping would be to create a second instance of Windows (which is the way I've always laid out my own PCs, until the most recent box where I decided to try organising things the Microsoft way) but then you've got to reboot every time you want to change the version of the data you are working on. This will take a fair bit longer than running a batch file to rename two folders.

Do you have two different data folders too?? If not, then it is quite possible that you have a 'My Squads' file that will conflict with one of your program files setups.

No, I am referring to the FIFA 07 folder within the user's My Documents structure

ok ok...better if this little tutorial-faq go on sticky thread.

You need:
A good knowledge of Windows registry
An Hex editor
Time

Make a copy of your FIFA 07 directory and name it MODF 07
Open with your favourite Hex editor the fifa07.exe file in MODF 07 dir.
search install dir string and change in newinst dir.
Close hexeditor.
Execute Regedit command from Run shell of start menù. (Make attention! registry is a fundamental part of Windows)
Go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> EA SPORTS -> FIFA 07 and create a string key with name "newinst dir" and value "C:\progra~1\easpor~1\modf07~1\" (both without quotes!).

Run your fifa from fifa07.exe in MODF 07 dir to have a new fifa.Run in normal way to run your original fifa.
To install patch check the rigth directory.
This trick is good to have an offline fifa, and a online version of fifa for multiplayer match.
