2 player on the same computer

My game runs great at 1024x768 with only me playing, but when i want play with a friend using my second controller i get the infamous slow down...even at 640x480 and low detail the game runs in slow motion. What a strange bug !! Does anyone get the same?

I tried playing with 2 players 2 days ago and everything went good... lemme think of it

I cant understand how a controller can affect the game performance. I was playing at 1024x768 with FSAA 2X + Anys. 4x and the game run at 60 fps everywhere. Yesterday i just installed a second gamepad (serial port adapted) and now i'm getting 50/55 fps at 640x480 with FSAA and filtering off. This 5 fps lost make the game very jerky and unplayable, since in the box the frame is 40/50 sometimes. The fps lost happened even if i am playing alone, but with the 2 gamepads installed. To play fine again i must desinstall one and play alone
My system is a Atlon XP 2400 + Radeon 9600 Pro, 512 MB and Asus A7V.

Well...the windowed mode + realtime trick solved my problem. Thanks all for the help.

For the control maybe try disactivating Vsync in your graphic card

disabling v-sync makes the game look odd though, with the screen lines. Very off putting for me anyway.
