and mus, I strongly disagree your opinion of atletico's tactics resembling mou's.. also, chelsea not going for any title is totally bullshit.. why did they hire mou, then?

They've only said 3 billion times that it is a long term project.

Tell me what did atletico do so different than chelsea? Other than not make mistakes

That sucks. Doesn't feel nice seeing Courtois pulling off those amazing saves and having your best player at fault for 2 goals. 3 shitty goales to concede, Atletico were better at every facet of the game. Had you told me at the beginning of the season we'd have a shot at the title and reach the semis I'd have been pleased, now it feels quite bitter. Now we hope City and Pool choke.

Well, I suppose we should be optimistic. This side reached the semis, with Matic and another season with Mou we might even win it.

pool or city wont choke, and matic would do no wonders.. let me see; bayern, real or even dortmund would've destroyed you in the process.. and atletico actually did..

chelsea needs some serious quality in their line up.. hazard is ok, a consistent torres would be ok but eto'o, demba ba arent really up for this level..

you'd still get to the semis with ease, but beyond that, something special is needed..

well, they attacked better to start with.. that's how their 3 goals came, despite being 1 down..

I'm sorry, have you watched the second half?

have you seen what happened to mou's magical defending tactics when atletico players built some self confidence?

filipe left two defenders for dead before going for a chip over schwarzer..

No, it isn't, they're good players, some great, but none are worldclass. They're very disciplined and well-organised and tactically superb.

And Theo, we would've fared better against Bayern and Madrid than Atleti.

the 3 goals were all from mistakes not any ability from atletico that's for sure, nor some sort of tactical exploitation

well obviously we'll never know this for sure, we can just assume.. but if you were to choose your opponent before the draw, I guess everyone would have opted for Atletico..

Chelsea parked the bus with a vastly superior team in terms of individual quality and that cost like 100x more. It'd be like Juve parking the bus away at Parma or something, it's pathetic. Atletico then beat them with superior play at Stamford Bridge. They've also proven to play in a variety of ways, just watch the Madrileno derbies from Simeone's time.

I also don't buy Chelsea's ''long term project''. Mourinho is full of sh*t, he spend a ton on Willian and Schurrle and he already had a team stacked with talent.

boy...

I'm really struggling to understand your approach.. they scored 3 goals against one of the world's best defending teams, despite being one goal down, and you say there were no tactical exploitation..

tactics are developed for making your opponent flop, forcing them to make mistakes.. and at the same time you cover your mistakes with tactics.. with no mistakes, all games would end 0-0 and bore us to death.. this game is about forcing your opponent to make mistakes so it is cheap to say "all goals were from mistakes, nothing tactical!"..

have you seen juanfran at first goal? he came from like 8 metres behind chelski's leftback to make that cross..

Not any Chelsea supporters I know, they'd have much preferred to play against an attacking team like Bayern

Atletico were just better on the day, and a lot of it came down to luck. They didn't expose anything or tactically outdo the "parking the bus" in fact, Chelsea even scored the first goal

And why don't you buy it? It was said from day 1, not a reactionary excuse..

With the exception of the legitimate but "out of the blue" penalty, the Atletico goals were decent goals. The problem was that, normally, in the game of this type a home side who are desperate for a goal or two goals enjoy 20-30 minutes of late pressure which at least give them a chance of getting that. We did not get even a minute of this, put this down either to Atletico continuing to attack and refusing to sit back and ride it out, or to us panicking and flopping. Either way, it was very disappointing.

So Simeone planned on having Terry slip and Eto'o to foul Diego Costa? Please.

I just admire the way Simeone handles his team's role as underdog. I love the attitude he projected on his team and to me they're a very exciting team to watch.

I'm buying ''long term projects'' from clubs like Ajax who try to exploit their youth academy or other clubs that don't have much to spend, but not Chelsea and their habitual 50+ mil transfer windows.
