In my opinion the tricks would be nice, but I am not going to miss them that much. My reason for this is players that normally perform tricks would be offensive in nature. Offensive players in 07 on the 360 have better control, be it pace, agility or close control. Therefore, simply by dribbling, accelerating away from defenders (it finally happens in a Fifa game) you can beat many people. I have been able to run over half the length of the field with Ronaldo, Messi, Ron, Eto, Rooney. Its simple as defenders can't match their pace. I can't wait to do the same with Robben of Chelsea!
Now, in my opinion, and forming this on the amount of football I watch, I feel this is much more accurate way of beating opponents.
Tricks would be nice, kind of an icing on the cake, but won't hinder me from enjoying a realistic simulation. Now, about those nets, can they be fixed!

There are also some context based skills which are pretty cool (just like in PES for exable)... so it's not that skills are not in the game, it's just we have no control over it...
But still simple pace control with sidesteps etc... would be nice (RB + direction) like in current gen... and bloody JOSTLING!!!
I'm also getting used to RS to nock the ball around etc... I managed to send it one way and go around the player the other way, pretty cool and realistic

How? You did the run around move using the right stick? I'm still learning the basics of this game and haven't used the RS much at all. I will give this a try. Any chance of a you tube video if you pull this move off again?

I have also experienced when my player flicked the ball and jumped over the defender when defender did a sliding tackle but I'm not sure whether I did something or it was just context based...

Bollocks. The AI in current-gen is predictable! 07 on my pc feels closer to 06 with the same-updated engine. They claim the AI isn't as good cause on current-gen you can break defences using a through-ball?! Erm...not every through-ball that looks nice in reality is going to break a defence. 360 version is more about build-up than some over-the-top-accurate through-ball.
this is clearly his opinion and this is obviously mine. I personally prefer 360 version 10000 times more than current-gen.

You should all know by now that IGN are a collective of PES fanboys, so they are bound to put FIFA07 down on some instances.
They did the exact same thing with Saint's Row before it was released. "Blah, blah GTA rip-off, blah, blah GTA!" ... Saint's Row rules.
From the final review of IGN that is coming on Monday, I expect it to get a fairly good rating, however I also expect a lot of 'this part isn't as good as PES/WE ... this part is taken from PES/WE ... blah, blah PES!"

Well, i have more confidence to gamespot than to ign, i dont know about if they are pes fanboys or not, im a pes fan, but the pes 360 version of this year is really poor, anyway, i wonder of this hands-on is about the TGS demo (may of this year) or the X06 demo (September). I say this because seems that the demo that we can download belongs to the TGS and not to the demo that we saw on the X06 in Barcelona. I compared videos for both version and are 20% different, in the last one on the X06 the replays are so fluid as the game, aswell the ai seems diferent, players react of diferent way, more acurate, etc.
And finally about the D-pad, analogue or less responsive effect that some people are talking, well, i find it totally logical. If you are playing football or wacthing a mach, if you are running from left to right and you do a turn of direction to right to left it takes always a bit of time, 0.5 secs, or 1 sec, depend of what kind of player is (i think that Ronaldinho do it in 0.1 sec...ahem...), so it will be not very realistic if you change your direction instantly, in 0.00000001 secs without broke your legs, so much abrupt. I think that this gives to the game more realism.
Dvc, i dont think that they will use PES terms to compare, due from words from Seabass, he admit that in PES for 360 they didnt re-shoot all the animations, i mean, same engine and a bit refined graphics for this version (without ingame editor, i cannot believe this point as pes fan), so fifa for 360 is completly diferent from the current gen versions, new engine, new graphics, etc. So, as always the best way to be sure if one game is enought good for you is to rent the game, play a couple of days and decide for yourself if you buy it or not, instead of follow the reviews directives, they are orientative, is impossible that one person has the same feeling about one game than other. Viewpoints are always diferents.

NO EDITING IN WE/PES for 360?????????
That automatically gets a 3 point deduction from me. Not because I wouldn't be able to recreate real teams, but cause I always create my own personal team. Everything from th elogo to the name, sopcks, celebrations, colors, everything! This is horrible. I'm a big WE fan and this truly disapoints me. I guess we'll all have to wait for PES 7! I am really really hoping that Fifa will be decent. I'm not even expecting a great game but please fifa, please, make a decent game. So far, from what I read, I'm afraid Fifa for 360 will be a disaster

I got over the fact that there are no tricks... not entirely, but I've came to accept it.
Now, what I miss are the first touch moves. They were cool and useful, what the hell?
Also, the responsiveness isn't very good at all. The players react waaaay too late.
Selecting a playing who's not very close to the ball doesn't seem to be an option either.
I like holding the B button so the player I select will run to the oponent who has the ball, haven't been able to do that with this demo.

How long is the journey? Where are they going? To outer space? I am up to my ears with this cliche: "Fifa is headed in the right direction" WTF? With all the money in the world, they cannot get to their destination? Every year it's the same quote: "Fifa is headed.......
PES has arrived in the direction fifa is trying to reach years ago! I mean, how much more slack are you gonna cut EA? I bet you when I'm 40, I'll hear, "Fifa is headed in....... Well, I'm sorry but Fifa have had ample time to get there. They keep churning out inferior gameplay, gimmicks, etc. I had high hopes from this 360 version and so far 80% of reviews, previews have been negative. That's enough for me. They should get their sh!!te together and make a game as good or better than Konami's.
