I demand effort from Konami, that's why I rag on them so much. I just think the past couple of years have been very lazy times for them in terms of bringing this game forward. All of the fanboys are like "PES6 rulez", etc. etc. in the usual chavvy can't string a sentence together fashion, but in reality, nobody knows until we play it what the heck it will be like. Maybe they've made significant changes to WE10 (which was just a bugfix to the cock-ups in PES5) and I sincerely hope so. Believe me, I really don't want to be playing FIFA but Konami seem more and more lapse every year. They can never get a solid release date and stick with it which is worrying given the bugs last year's effort came with (no crowd, no weather in cup/league, etc.) and it makes me wonder if they're having the same last minute testing schedule.
When year after year, the majority of forummers highlight major wants such as a fully customizable ML, etc. and Konami do nothing about it then you have to wonder if they only listen to the Asian market who seem to love dog heads, horses heads, etc. more than real crowd chants or realistic stadium banners.
Konami have done more for soccer games than EA who have spent the last 5 years producing crap until this year's effort (and before Butch weighs in with a fanboy comment here, most of the hardcore PES fans who have tried it admit it's definitely a decent effort this year). I just think Konami have sat on their a$$es and not put in the effort since PES4 to bring this game seriously towards a next-gen experience. Until a PS3 version comes out (and we know the 360 version is a stop-gap version, nothing major, a few graphical tweaks) we won't see where Konami are heading with the series. The best thing going forward is for them to abandon the PS2 and XBox versions and concentrate on the new consoles so we can have a relatively level playing field. Basing all of the versions pretty much on the PS2 core engine was a bad idea even last year let alone this year. Basing the engine on a PC version is no good if the average spec. of PC is way below what most of us gamers really have at home.
If PES6 turns out to be a gem then EXCELLENT! If it's a mini-hop forward then we've been sold short. Konami should be raging ahead here not waiting to lick Sony's a$$ and wait for the PS3 before releasing something truly decent.
With no PC demo, that's worrying. How can you not release a demo? With last year's demo being better than the full game perhaps they don't want to repeat that mistake.
Come on Konami, show some freaking commitment to the rest of the world outside of Asia and show you care about your market. You may have a lot of teenage fanboys but eventially, they're fickleness will wear off and like most Chelsea fans, they'll be off to find an alternative once the glitz wears off and there's a serious competitor out there.
