I haven't tried what you have described but I have noticed that at certain moments the game goes into another gear. For example, first game of the season for me is always easy. I don't know why, I hardly fail to win the first game. Second half of the season is always tough, I don't...this could be, impart, due to the fact that my players are fatiguing and so on but still, the teams seem to hit another gear when playing against you in the second half of the season.

one of the brilliant parts of the game is the ai.
The cpu really do learns how to defend/attack against you.

It the same thing for me.

Just played a couple of friendly games with the 4-3-3 tactics with Rangers against Arsenal.
The first 2 games was verey easy and since i was playing with a much worse team ( level 5 )i got quite suprised, my wingers where extremly effective.

But in the third and fourth game i was getting huge problems, you could easily see not the least on the radar how Arsenal got their tactics rigth ,completely isolating my wingers.
Since 4-3-3 is a tactics verey much based on the performance of my wingers i didnt stand a chance at all. In the third and fourth games i didnt manage to score one single goal fromopen play.

I am also sure the AI learns how to attack as well, i cant see how, and its hard to anylize but it still verey obvous to me that the cpu learns where to attack, where my weakness are cuse the attacks are way smarter in latter matches.

Same here when u play a friendly the cpu is easy to break down cause it doesn't know how u play.

If u play a ML things can get pretty though, specially the last third of the season, and it's not about the fatigue of the players the computer just plays better!

BTW about AI defending can be pretty lame but i reached ML div 1(extreme-PES2) and i made 9 games; NEVER in any of those game the cpu defended really bad, in fact they seemed to be better than in we6(more clever).

Another thing that is brilliant is attacking: the cpu will change is tactic to break u down. In two of those games(one against Juventus-lost 3-1; the other against Man U-lost 3-0) the cpu was brilliant: they wouldn't just attack like headless chickens, sometimes they where just passing the ball around waiting for an opening. And defending was also brilliant; against Man U in the first half i couldn't it a single shot on goal(first time that ever happened to me in any football game)!

This games where two of the greatest moments i have ever had in any video game. I lost but i knew that it was because the cpu was better than me. BRILLIANT!!!Love this game!

I find that it depends on the importance of players affected by fatigue/form. If, for example in my ML team, Bobby Charlton is below par then the team work level of my whole team suffers.

In real football teams like Arsenal are not as good when the likes of Viera have a bad game.

I'm not sure if there is an extra competitive edge instilled in CPU teams in Cup and League matches though.

Has anyone else noticed that as you get more "real" players for the ML team, they seem far more likely to have blue or grey arrows than when you only have a few in the team.

Hmm, I have to be on the look out for that. I know that I have Figo and for some part of the season he was on blue for 3 games in a row, how much rest does the man need?
