90 minute time limit half length

Is it true that you can only play 90 minute halfs with a "patched" demo version?

As in the retail version has a 10 minute half length limit?

Just want to know before blowing $50 on this game.

Thats bloody stupid not adding the 90 min feature, but then again not every one plays it at 90mins a game.

I have to agree that it's silly to not add it.

It's one way to limit high scoring games.

However it's not that hard programatically to make the length of the half 2,4,6,8,10,20, or 45 minutes instead of 10 minutes.

The decision to limit halfs to 10 minutes had to be by comittee or an attempt to prevent high scoring games.

I wonder if this is some sort of warez thing.

It wouldn't be the 1st time developers put in a means to allow warez copies to be played but with crippling effects.

The Settlers II used a trick where the entire production chain was messed up when instead of producing iron, one produced pigs. *grin*

Still, this seems to be an undecided issue. I'd love to see something official on it. I'd love to buy this game, but not if it's limited to 20 minute games.

I've just called a friend about this. He has a bootleg copy of the game. Yea, I know, I'm harboring a fudgitive and prolly a terrorist for not ratting him out to whatever RIAA like arm the software industry has. He said it was 10 minutes. But... he's got a pirated copy.

Is there anyone here with the REAL, LICENSED version of the PC version of the game that can tell me if it is limited to 10 minute halves or not?

Check the previous posts. There's one person saying it's 90 minutes, another saying only 10. On top of that, there's the pirated version that's limited to 10.

I guess I'll wait til one of my friends actually pays for it and then see if it's 10 minute halfs or 45 minute halfs.

I dont even know why you would want to play over 10 minute halves. 6 mins and 8 mins are good for me and most other people. Anything over that and the scores start getting a little un realistic.

On the contrary, I'm an avid FIFA supporter.

And yes, scores are tragically unrealistic with 45 minute games.

They have been with every well... every release of EA Sports' FIFA series that I own. There's a few in there I missed out on.

You have to remember there are 2 types of gamers in the world. Those who enjoy a game that's fun and playable and those who will complain about any game cuz it's not realistic.

I'm in the latter group. As an example, I actually never touch the "time acceleration" button in my combat flight sims because I enjoy the flight to the combat area.

EA Sports seems to try to find the middle ground between realism and playability with every game they release. In this case they left out ONE feature that I think I'd like. But with scores in the 2 and 3 digit range for 45 minute games, I think I'd not play 45 minute games.

This feature being left out is enough for me to wait for Fifa 2005. I also didn't buy LO-MAC because they failed to include a REAL, dynamic campaign (a' la Falcon IV).

I'm one of the realism gamers. I like the idea of 90 minute matches where you can't run your players til they drop.
