After playing full game on the ps2 thought i'd let people know a few things. I am as such a pro evo player but always play the new FIFA's to see what there like.

Intro starts with a collection of different real life goals, with a scottish bloke talking in the background about the passion of football and all this kind of stuff.

Title Screen said transfers upto date as of 24/08/2005.

Sometimes instead of music on the menus they have 'FIFA flashbacks' where commentary from games of famous goals are played. I heard wayne rooney score his first goal for everton at the age of sixteen.

After entering my profile before i had even got into the game menu it offered me a challenge to play the all world time eleven.

Game seems a lot different to PC version, haven't played it enough to give a proper opinion on it.

Will maybe post some vids/screens tommorow.

:ewan:

Edit: Playing in manager mode, I had the option to buy some adboards for the club to raise some cash, one of the boards was soccergaming.com :D the site paid to be on the game or what?

Not sure how to react to the comments about a non-released PS2 version of the game. I think we need to watch it here, guys?

Hate to sound like a B****, but this cannot be good for the EA relationship with soccergaming.com, do you think?

Cheers!

And it's cool that you chat about the other bits and bobs, rather than the gameplay. I've heard many different opinions about the gameplay (Just play the demo, guys...), so I'm cool with that, just I wanna see the kits etc...

Mate...if you could do me a HUGE favour, I'd be so happy...Post a screenie of QPR's squad and kits?

Cheers ;)

My little review/sneak peak of the game without having played the demo:

- The manager mode is well done, imo. Not as detailed as a club manager game, but it covers the essentials. You can set ticket prices (low, medium, high), chose your sponsor (not ad boards, jerseys though), hire a scout and answer interview questions to raise/lower your moral, money, etc.

- As you might already know, there are now three status bars on the main career mode. The team chemistry, job security and fan support.

- You will have the option to chose between 4 different controller layouts (on the PS2). 1) Being the old FIFA05 controls, 2) being the same, but controlling the player with the d-pad & tactics with the left analog stick. 3) PES/Winning Eleven like controls (L1 to change player), and 4) like 3, but with the d-pad controlling the player.

- There have been some additions made to the controls, like letting the ball pass through your legs to the guy behind you by pressing L2. You can slow down the ball by holding R2. I'm guessing you guys know this from the demo. You can also change your tactics and mentality during the game.

Gameplay:

- Overall, it seems a lot more like PES/WE now. I'm not a fan of PES (mostly because I suck at it and never got into it), but you seem to be running into a defender as soon as you get the ball. So passing is essential during the game. However, the passes come of pretty bad most of the time so it can become pretty frustrating at times. There also doesn't seem to be a scoring recipe anymore, like in FIFA05. I never went for the side/flank options in 05, but 06 seems to be forcing your to do this, simply because there's no room to get past the middle defenders. Maybe I just need to play the game some more...

- The corners and free kicks also a pretty freely/lose now. The free kicks don't give you any sort of direction indication at all anymore, which is pretty retarded for a video game, imo, but whatever. You can also call a 2nd guy for your free kicks, much like in PES.

- The goalies also have new animations now and seem to be a lot more real this time around. However, they sometimes only block weak shots and so make it easy for the attacker to score the 2nd time around.

Overall, I find it better than PES (although I've never like PES over FIFA at any point) mostly because of the nice presentation, real teams, and imo, nicer graphics. It's in some ways a step down from 05. Like the ball seems to be sticking to the feet again, and less playing space on the field.

So my favorite combination would be a newly reworked 05, with the goalies and manager mode from 06.

That is EXACTLY what I would like also, I don't need a PES copy, I want the real Fifa thing as I am used to all these years and not some arcade console kiddie game where defenders catch up on Sheva as if they would catch up a 93 year old eskimo on ice. (man, I hate the Fifa06 demo playability and pray it gets alot better in final release)

If you play fifa on thr PC, you can already make Fifa 2005 waaaaaaaaaay better as the original. You just have to apply Rinaldo's patches ( tactic master, free kick master ) . The middlefield gap can be reduced a lot.
The only thing you cannot change ,are the forwards who stay by the gk when he kicks ( pretty retarded feature )
I have been applied patches from all sorts and so enhanced my game ( fifa 2005 ) that it has nothing to compare with the original, believe me...
Not to mention the 160 new teams I was able to create with the CC...
hopefully we will be able to combine files between 2005 and 2006 games

Yep Jomi I did exactly as you did and now I am very (maybe too much) attached to my Fifa2005, but I doubt there will be comptability between the two, for example the kits are in a different format (not much work according to kit makers though) but Fifa06 and 2005 faces are not compatible (the ° files changed or something) and that's more serious...

I definetely feel that the PC version and PS2 version are like two different games. After playing the PS2 then going back to PC, the PC feels so much better to play, I'm really enjoying it. The ps2 seems more like old FIFA, hard to explain :D

PC is definetely the way forward until maybe PS3 comes out.

One nice new move i've noticed (if it is new) works on all version of games is when you pass the ball to player and hold down the L2 or equivalent button when it gets to the player he will let it run through his legs or go past him and then do a quick turn onto it.

The First touch is still very much in there aswell same as FIFA 2005.

Overall as a PES fan, I think i will be playing FIFA alot more this year, mainly on PC, and PES for a lot of online play. PES still ahead for me overall. But FIFA is a good alternative when feeling like a different type of simulation. Enjoying both games alot now, which is good.

I'll post some stuff from FIFA 06 but I get the impression some people don't want it as it is 'unreleased' at the mo.
