a little help please [wanna learn photoshop]

i don't know anything about photoshop but am very keen on learning how to use the program.
i see some of the sigs that ppl have and i want myself to be capable of doing that!
since there are so many experts on this board i would like to know what is the best way to go about doing it: should i buy a book? or should i just open the program and start fiddling about on my own? or should i open 'help' and browse around? or should i just look for some tutorial online?

Well, my way of learning is rather different.
First, I started off with basic things on PaintShopPro7. When I knew all it's functions well enough I moved on to the photoshop-series.
There are always basic tutorials to start off with, if you want to learn impressive things quickly, it just might cause your gfx skills to be weak in a way. It's quite difficult to say that in proper english.
I don't think a book will be worth it, there might be some very good books showcasing all the basic functions tho.

i suggest getting a picture off the internet (like of a soccer player or a car etc...) and checking out all the special effects and editing it

just search for online tutorials.. seriously, there are TONS of 'em. that's the easiest and simplest way to learn, imo. or if you like reading, then by all means buy a book.

i've bought a few books for photoshop and flash in the past but all they've done is collect dust on my bookshelf. i just hate reading.

and last but not least, just f*ck around with the darn thing.. don't be afraid, experiment..

and you'll be as good as iceblu and the likes.

i find www.good-tutorials.com one of the best, its really easy to use and the tuts are really user friendly even for beginners
