Phew! That was a close one.

Andri Sigporsson (Ziggy) was under contract till' 2002. I decided to offer him a new contract just to be on the safe side. (In case I forgot in the next year.
)

To my shock and HORROR Ziggy had a.....MINIMUM RELEASE CLAUSE!!! (Insert climaz horror music.)

Any team could buy him for a mear 2.7 mil. I had to act FAST. I offered him a new contract that bumped up his current wage by 3000k. I then changed the minimum release clause to relegation release clause. After 3 days of biting my nails and watching for rouge Man U transfer bids LIKE A HAWK, I found that my Ziggy had put pen to paper and signed to 2007. With NO Minimum Rlease Clause.

Score one for the good guys!!!

Just fyi

but anytime you have a player under a min release clause just change the amount after you accept the offers, no one follows up even though you have accepted their offer. Nice trick that one.

The min. release clause really kills you in the lower divisions - most up and coming stars ALL want release clauses and sometimes all you can do is watch as the bigger clubs bid more and more, and finally hit the release clause and steal your best player (and usually for a pittance!)

[Of course I'm a hypocrite because now I'm in the big leagues I raid those lower league teams]
