Great work, it works perfectly.
Good luck on getting the kits working in master league, its all we need now :)

I'll take a look.
Ideally, this sort of fix should be done by adjusting LOD-switching algorithm (LOD means "Level Of Detail"), because that would affect all graphical elements: kits, boots, referee kits, player haircuts, the ball, etc.
Hopefully this algorithm, or at least parts of it, can be figured out. If not, it may be possible to the texture boost for some of the items in the list above.

juce is it possible to move the numbers on the national kits to fit in the circle on the nike kits, if so how. And also how can you change the colour of the names on teh back of the kits as on the Arsenal one it is white box and white writing and you can't see it.

Thought this question was better suited for this thread. So here goes:

If i understand correctly, you're refering to the experimental version, where all 3 bitmaps for a kit were prepared "offline" by kit designer, instead of kitserver doing minification at run-time. As you can see from screenshots in first post, some improvement was possible, but not much. 256x128 texture is simply too small to really look good in the game on near and medium distances. It's either will be too blurry or too ugly. Especially, when a lot of detail is on the kit - like sponsors or badges, or fabric lines/patterns.

When the kit is pretty generic - like simply a blue shirt (kinda like original kits from AFS are), then it's ok - 256x128 is good enough. But for a well painted "official" kit, there is simply no good way to convert a 512x256 to 256x128 image. The quality will deteriorate a lot, regardless of what minification algorithm is used.

That's why i looked for a different solution, and made this texture boost feature. With texture boost, it becomes the job of the graphics hardware/Direct3D to produce proper rendering for a given size.

i don't know about moving the numbers to fit the circles... i wouldn't want to dive into that can of worms (changing the geometry of uniforms). Sounds like, adjust the kits is a better solution.

With colours of names and colors of numbers - you have a valid point. The way it was done in Kitserver 2 (for PES3/WE7I), is that in KDB, there was a special file - attrib.cfg - where you would specify all these colors for every kit: name color, back number color, color of little number on the shorts, and collar type. I'll do something similar for PES4. It's just not implemented yet. But it will be.

Right now, you can fix this problem in a different way: by using Waterloo's tool to adjust these colors/collar-types.

use 3dModel No. 13(Korea Style) to fit the number in a circle with waterloo tool
@Juce: we need a Glove server  possible ?

Fantastic work on the texture booster for kits, works excellently.

What im hoping for now is that other parts of the player models can be 'boosted' by you very clever people!! I play the game using wide camera angle and the level of detail of the players is much reduced. Things happening like the hairstyles disappearing so some of the players look bald old men!!

mallum,

see my earlier post in this thread about LOD-switching. We'll try our best, but it may not be possible, or possible only to some extent.

Frankly, Konami should've came out with a patch that fixes this. Hopefully they will.

Juce,

Yeah I agree, Konami has been a bit sloppy with the graphic features side of things, thats why I think your doin a great job for us all!!

I did read the earlier posts about LOD and i was just saying I hope this can be changed sometime in the future to get the best out of the game visually.

On a different subject within PES4 which u may be able to answer, when i play in league mode (not master league), i always get night games. The weather changes from time to time, getting rain but always night. I posted before in the forum about this but general response is it dont happen to anyone else or if it does then noboby was worried about it enough to respond. In Pes3 it used to be a balance of day and night conditions. My settings are on random within the game. Would u know why this is? Its not a big issue, but am just curious!

sorry, i've no idea what's happening with your day/night random selection. Maybe the random generator in the game isn't well designed.

With the overall quality of this game, that wouldn't surprise me at all. (Sometimes, it feels as if Konami testers had 1 hour to test the whole product, before it was rushed to the stores).

ok nevermind thanks anyway!

They even delayed the release for a while aswell!! At least we've got good people like yourself doing your excellent work to maximise the games potential! Why dont u just apply for a job at Konami and sort them out!? Haha!!
