I agree he was not half of the player he was at Barcelona but he was still the best player in Milan in that certain year. He performed very well against United as well, not many can do the same against Rio-Vidic.

My point is its impossible for any player to play at the highest level for enitre career. Same can be said against Dinho, but he was still effective. I hate the way people say he was poor in Milan, he was effective but not Barca Dinho for sure.

Just a couple of questions really, as I am not a massive Italian football anymore, I used to but the past few years I have had a bit of trouble with keeping up with it.
How certain are you Montolivo is going to AC Milan on a Bosman? I'm pretty sure he can't sign a pre-contract agreement with a club until he has quite a short time left on his contract maybe 3 or 6 months. So what is there to say someone else won't pinch him, there are some English clubs keen and I imagine he fits the bill for a Malaga or PSG team who can offer big contracts.
Also, do you really think Aquillani is a Milan quality player? He wasn't a Liverpool quality player when our squad was weak. Maybe his style suits Italian football better, having more time on the ball to faff about like he did for us, showing off his red shoes, with nothing to back it up.

I think nothing has been signed with Montolivo, and I for one am not that sure that he will come, but then again Galliani is the most cunning director in football right now, and a free Montolivo must make him drool so he just might have a verbal agreement with Monto.

Milan had but I also think that Milan had a very poor squad at that point, Pato is still a kid and immature now, then that was even more obvious, and what, we had Huntelaar and Borriello as other strikers that season, no Boateng and even no Bommel let alone good fullbacks (Abate was used as a Midfielder and wasn't as good as now) or a proper world class creative, combative midfielder with good lungs that we miss even now. Dinho wasn't enough and a lot of players where suffering in the formation that was accommodated to suit Ronaldinho so we where better off without him. He didn't have the capability to carry the team like Ibra/T.Silva do now or like Kaka' did prior to '08.

Kaka had a very good team behind him, Sheva, Pirlo, Gattuso, Inzaghi, Seedorf, Nesta and somehow Maldini were at their best.
Btw, Milan was a better team last year even without Ibra, He missed lots of matched to red cards at the end of season and Milan won the trophy.
I am very interested to see how Milan will perform this year. I'm sure kp27 will be an essential part

I think Milan played great, Aquilani is just the man for Milan, and although I'd really like to see Pato being a leading player for Milan I think that this season the attacking duo should be Cassano - Ibra cause they just work perfectly together, and they always look like making something out of nothing. This was by no means a bad display by Milan, and a draw will do good to motivate them.
Deni's nailed a lot of good points there, as usual, so I'll try not to rehash ...
both conceded goals -- the first was a handball -- were down to Nesta's mistakes ... yeah, he made a crucial intervention against Djibril, but that was only after he got burnt for pace in the lead-up ... can't wait for Philou to recover and take the place of the legendary, but worn-out, Nesta ...
Aquilani should have made the perfect start to his Milan career: it was a sublime through-ball from Zlatan to set up that 1-on-1 chance that should have been buried ... would have seen the match unravel quite differently ...
Cassano was unlucky not to win it on two separate occasions: when he shaved the far post, and later smacked the near post ...
but with a goal and an assist for him, and a goal for Zlatan, it's a good start to the season for my favourites ... Thiago Silva, too, looked supremely confident, picking up where he left off last season ... hopefully this'll mean they enter the Barcelona match with both confidence and humility ...

I totally agree Xifio, Nesta (although for me is THE best defender EVER) should be benched for Mexes, unfortunately Nesta's only problem are his lungs, Abate has some to spare but as much as he's improved and maybe is the best Italian RB he is still a long way from being tactically world class to cover for Nesta's lack of pace. Mexes was brilliant last year for Roma and France, I think he's hungry for success which is more than important, his time is now and we should use that to our advantage. IMO the pairing of Mexes and Silva can be beastly.
And please, no more Antonini on the left flank, hes does run and hes all over the pitch when attacking, hes giving his all and he is a nice guy, but he is not a defender. When he plays we're completely exposed. I'm really looking forward to Taiwo, but in the mean time play Zambro please.

Hahahhahahah brilliant!!!
tried watch as much as I could during lecture ... from what I saw:
- brilliant acceleration from The Duck to blitz that goal in near-record time ...
- props to Cassano for the spin and dummy run on the goal ... it created the crucial moment of hesitation from the makeshift defenders that allowed Pato to poke it past and run away ...
- Abbiati is a decent shot-stopper, but a keeper must dive HANDS FIRST across the goal line, NOT FEET FIRST ... could have blocked Pedro at the far post ... if he had done so and still conceded the goal, fair enough ... but that is an alarming technical flaw!
- BIG PROPS to Nesta ... I didn't hold back on my criticism last time, and I still think he lack of any pace will be a problem in the long-run ... but today, against the big dogs, he made sensationally-timed tackles one after the other, both in and just outside the box ... showed a glimpse of his former brilliance ...
getting Barcelona in the Group Stage is the perfect litmus test for this reinforced Milan ... compared to how Real Madrid faired against a full-strength Barça, Milan (even considering the injuries) clearly isn't ready to match the European Champions just yet ...
but going through this learning experience will be crucial for the season, just like it was for Mourinho's treble-winning Inter ... and getting an away result is a fabulous bonus!

Bad angle. He didn't cry or anything. He was smiling while he banged the ground, being mad at himself for not shooting earlier, as he had plenty of time for that. But Nesta did play great.
