Adu is great, if you've seen him play, you know. He has things to work on, but he's young, and certainly he is going to be a large part of US Soccer for years to come.

hes a great player but thats the problem with a lot of players from africa they lie about their age and play with the younger players to stand out. but in this case i think adu is really his age.

why you guys keep saying hes older because you know hes not, My cousin who plys basketball is alot taller than adu and hes only 15. So why some people say hes older he dont even look older and he sound like a little kid also, he cant be 18. Dont hate :crazyboy: :crazyboy:

About Adu's age... I wish people would just STFU. :(

If MLS and many top European clubs are prepared to pay him millions, I think they've done their research and they've made pretty damn sure the kid is 14. Why would a team offer millions to an 18-year-old who played well at the U-17 World Cup?

So regardless of whether or not he took the test, I think his willinginess to take it should end doubt about him being 14. If he was older and wanted to hide it, he wouldn't be willing to be tested.

Yea, I agree with BJ .. and Chelski, height has nothing to do with it. I know a 14 year old who is 6'7" .. Freddy isn't very large, especially for standout athletes of his age. They tend to be more physically mature, but the reason there is doubt concerning his age is purely based on his skill. If I were Freddy I would be flattered by the controversy ;)

i'm sure at this point, he's heard it all about his age controversy. he probably doesn't even notice it anymore. i've seen a lot of interviews of him lately, and you can just tell he's a kid. he just has that youthful persona that kids do...dunno if that makes any sense.

Freddy moved to the USA when he was 7. If he was really 18, then he would have moved here when he was 11. If he moved here when he was 11, he would most likely have a foreign accent.

If you have ever heard Freddy Adu talk, you would never know that he wasn't born here unless someone told you. He has a perfect American accent.

LOL this is funny. You should just leave this guy alone hes not older than he actually say he is. He could be 16 but not 18 Naw im jk i really do think hes 14. I think its a good thing they hype him up because it gives soccer TV time here in the usa. All we need now is our own david beckham, a black guy from out the ghetto whos good and represent the sport for african americans here Then maybe we will see more soccer coverage and of course winning the world cup would help. And by that time we will be able to see maybe 2 champions league game on tv a week lol stupid espn:kader: But personally i think living in america and loving soccer is something special because when you meet somone who loves the game as you here then your very happy.:) And having people thinking your stupid because your so passionate and of course telling thme their beloved sport sucks cow balls:crazyboy:

It was a quote a black brit made about Beckham to reporters. I think the guy runs a magazine there or something. I found it laughable, but... whatever.

haha yea i know there was a british article awhile back that was like "black like beckham"...and how beckham personifies black and hip-hop culture.

but that's not what i meant. i was quoting hellsideultras (nice name, by the way), who said america needs "our own beckham, a black guy from the ghetto who's good and represents the sport for african-americans here in the us."

that, if i may say, is just about the most retarded thing i've read in this entire forum since i've been here.
