can someone tell me what the heck is this? everytime when I try to buy a player in career mode, even if I play with Chelsea or some others big teams, I get a stupid counter offer from the player, and I don't really understand his demands, cause I can offer him the big fucking contract and he always decline. in conclusion, I can't make not a single fucking transfer, cause everytime it hits me with a counter offer.

If he is out of your budget range. Forget about him and move on. But, this guy seems to believe that the role you offered isn't going to work out for him. Post a screenshot of the transfer offer.

A lot of the career mode is about finding players in a sweet spot. I mean, a ton me players are Just not a good fit for your club. If the player's overall is too low, he will feel like he'll never see the pitch. If it is too high, he'll feel like you aren't a prestigious enough club. You can't Just pick a player you like and go after him. Most of the time, the deal will fall apart for some reason or another.

There are a ton of things to consider at different stages of a career. Do you have players that are gone enough for your current league? If not, that's your priority. If so, do you have enough of them? If not, building a deeper roster is your priority. If you're going to be in lower leagues, champions league or Europa league, you need a pretty deep roster.

I take the following approach when building from the English fourth division to the first.

First Transfer window: Identify any players I can sell off. I need cash more than I need players at this stage. I sell off as many as I can. I identify a few YOUNG, CHEAP talents that can stick with me. I plan to sell the rest of the roster. However much money the board gives me, I divide it between the number me players I want to get in that window. I might sell 6-8 players and buy 3-4. Identify young talents that can be signed to long contracts for not much money and who have a potential that is above your current team average. That might mean nabbing lots of players you've never heard of. Remember, if the board only gives you $750,000, you can only spend $250,000 per player in this window on transfers. Same goes for the wages. Take what they give you, divide by the number me players you Want. Don't let your roster drop below about 23. At this stage, Right now, my biggest goal is to get 11 players on the pitch that have an OVR of at least 60. A couple old guys are okay if they are in key positions.

Second transfer window: I probably didn't get enough of the players sold as I want to. I may not have much cash left. Still, if I do, I want to buy. Again, my goal is to get 11 players on the pitch that have an OVR of at least 60. I would prefer if those 11 were young, cheap, with a high potential. I don't want to leave any winter transfer windows with any spare cash. Spend it on something. If it is a crappy 3rd goalkeeper you're just going to loan out and eventually sell... fine. Peruse the free agents and nab a couple there if you can. You'll lose any money you have in the winter once you get to July (assuming it's a league with a winter schedule). Also, those players you tagged as wanting to sell, KEEP SELLING. If you can sell three players and buy one, do it. Don't let your roster drop below about 23. I have gone as low as 20, but it gets rough.

Subsequent transfer windows. Hopefully, the board was generous in rewarding me for the previous year's successes. If I'm not done with my initial goal of getting all players on the pitch with an OVR of at least 60, I keep working on that. If I have, then my goal shifts to getting them all about 65. Again, take the amount the board gives you and divide by the number of players you want. DO NOT go over budget to get a player. They just aren't worth it right now.

There will come a time, if you follow this pattern, where you'll have your 11 players of an OVR that fits your current standing. You'll have sold most of the players you wanted off your roster. You will be down to a pretty small roster size. Now, it's about building depth, talent and increasing roster size. Instead of selling 6-8 and buying 3-4, that flips to trying to ensure that each sale can buy you 3 (or more) players. Depth depth depth. Still set a goal for your starting 11. Maybe they should all be at least 70s, then 75s. Then 80s. And so on.

Be willing to identify one or two of your top players (even if you like them; particularly if they are worth a lot and you're in the winter window) and sell them. Remember, buy young, cheap, with a high potential.

It keeps going like this until eventually you've built a premier league roster that it deep and full of talent.

I think I'm going to do a post on this in more detail with a run through of an actual career.
