After Years Of PES On My PC , I Could Be Going Back To FIFA

One great new feature will be that the player and ball physics are going to be seperate. The ball physics is completely self-contained and the player now reacts on the ball and not the other way. This means that if a player is running with the ball in his feet the ball can bounce off his foot which makes it a lot more realistic.

Fifa 08 will include 3 more leagues than Fifa 07. That means that there are going to be 30 different leagues, 620 teams and 15,000 players from all over the world.

Unlike the other older fifa games the games AI will not change automatically the player but it depends on you which player you will want to use.

Another thing is the the passes and shots are all manual. This means that the direction of the pass or shot will depend on the direction of the player and the player won't automatically pass another player.

If Konami stick to there arcade cpu assisted passing I will be going back to FIFA, I loved PES ever since PES3 came out on the PC. But with manual passing and shooting it looks as though I will be buying FIFA again.

The cpu assisted passing of PES has drove me nuts over the years, I've put up with it because overall it was a far better game than FIFA as FIFA had there assisted passing in there game.

But with the ball now totally separate from the players and add in manual passing.

I think I will be buying FIFA again after all these years, why can't konami put in manual passing

(yes I know about the Right analog stick and other button for a manual pass to messy, my right thumb is for pushing buttons and not aiming a pass. When with manual passing on the default pass button and left control stick that aims your player also hit the ball where the player is facing.)

I am pretty sure after scoring the same type of goals over and over in fifa , you will come back to pro evo.:clapwap:

PES has been pissing me off the past few years as well, I keep trying the Fifa releases hearing how much improved they are but barely make it through a game or two before realising PES has become the lesser of two evils over what it used to be (the ******* daddy).

The last two version have indeed been dreadful but with more power at their disposal because of the 'next gen' then we should really see a drastically improved version compared to the last two.

This version will be proof that it was the due to the limitations of the ps2 they couldn't enhance pes much more or the fact Konami have become totally stale at what they are doing.

Let's see how Fifa '08 turns out to be, but with the way things are going with computer games in general it's going to take another couple of years for the games to be the way we want them to be ....

It's the same crap every year.

FIFA will have the spit and polish and be fun for a few games, but it just won't have the legs to be compelling enough over the course of a year. This could be the year FIFA brings it, but history says that is probably not. Hopefully EA will prove me wrong and it'll force Konami to step of their game.

FIFA blows ass. Period.

you might be right , but we'll see . I am just getting fed up with the same old thing with PES, the cpu picking which player the ball goes to, see it time and time again you have a player in a great position and press pass the lay the ball into his path but what happens the cpu with its assisted passing picks another of your players and the ball goes in his direction, usually with cpu players in the way.

I am not saying FIFA will be any better this time round , but I'll give it a chance not just write it off before Ive seen what it has to offer.

The list of things in the game if they get it right it could be a very good game.

Key Features

* Clinical Finishing — A true next-generation ball-striking engine calculates shot success by combining an almost infinite number of different contexts, including ball spin, pressure from defenders, player attributes, and even air pressure to recreate the drama and unpredictable nature of shooting.

Though last years fifas over game wasn't to my liking, the ball was. It is now separate in self contained animation not part of the player animation.

* Intelligent Soccer -- Now featuring AI with a 35-point decision engine which enables players to process 1,000 potential options and reactions every second in real time -- more than 60,000 options every minute -- via a dynamic ‘Threat Map’ system to capture the excitement and realism of soccer.

# Pro Skills — A new, organic building-block system enables you to combine tricks and skill moves together to recreate signature moves from the real-world superstars or define your own style of play. Animations can be interrupted at any time to transition into a new move, just like real life.

# Manual Controls — Dictate the play with new manual controls for through-passing and crossing. Now use the right-stick to quickly switch defenders and choose exactly who you want defending, when you want him.

The manual through ball passes and crosses in the game come from the default buttons and there direction comes from the default player controller d-pad or left analog stick. This is something I hope konami take on board, it would be much better in pes if the driection of manual passes came from the player contol dpad or left analog stick and not the right stick and different button.

I will try the new fifa demo but will not be expecting much. The players still move like they are on ice skates and it's far too easy to score.

If that changes who knows , Im getting pretty pissed of with Konami's laziness as well.

MT, I'm sorry you get flamed everytime you make posts like this - but that's the forum life for you.

Anyway, I think all those aspects seem great for a footie game - no doubt - but there's three things that will never get me to buy a FIFA game until they fix it.

Player Models - disproportioned heads and legs...ugh

Player Animations - ballerinas running...enough said there.

Ball Physics - the ball doesn't seem like it is SOLID, it is so floaty and reacts as if it is made of paper.

Those are the things KONAMI have been superior (of course game play) in for quite some time now, and in my opinion that is the underlying fact of why I won't buy another FIFA game until they fix it.

PES could have some problems - but they're fixable, and even those problems are not monumental. I believe 'feel' in a game is the most important element - and that is something FIFA has never had.

until the game is out, you played it and you see what you are reading, then get fifa by all mean. How many years since last time we talk about seperate ball physic for fifa? How many years that we'd read nice stuffs about next fifa version and how did they turn out? It's great that fifa get 3 more leagues, but how many league you'll play out of that 30 leagues? Anyway, I see the new graphic of new fifa and it's impressive, but.....until the game is out, you played it and you see what you are reading....don't bet on it!

Wow from what I'm reading, FIFA does sound promising indeed. But as usual, I won't be convinced until I've played the demo many times..

MightyTic, you should join EvoWeb forums. You'll find there are adults with open minds willing to discuss the game objectively.

Soccergaming Forum died 3 or 4 years ago. All that's left is the "Go play FIFA" and "you must suck at PES" fanboys. Leave them to rot in the faded glory of 2003, when PES used to be good. Don't waste your energy trying to type up meaningful posts here, you surely know by now what response you'll get if you even hint at criticism of PES.

EvoWeb = adult discussion
SoccerGaming = under 12s living in the past
