Agüero to Atletico Madrid?

I copy here what I commented in La Liga española thread:

IMO this and the inminent signing of Rosicky would give Atletico the quality jump they need (they already have a solid defence). And I think this year they're doing things in a right way, not buying 8 average players but buying only few great ones.

-------------Franco---------------
-Velasco--Perea--Pablo----Pernia--
-------------Luccin----------------
--Maxi-------Rosicky------Petrov---
----------Torres--Aguero----------

Not bad :)

Confirmed! at least marca says it was 23€m.

Well damn, I was hoping we would get serious but for 23€m...:O. Ha, of all the teams to go to, Atletico was the last one I would have expected him to go to.

I thought Torres was leaving this summer?

Sh*t, another amazing player leaving after only playing 50 matches in the First Team.

Anyway I was wishing he could go to Villarreal. At least he doesn't go to Real :)

I think there's a good chance they're selling Perea and maybe even Petrov.
That would make no sense. If they want to be a first line european side once and for all they must stop being a selling club... I think that the Calderon sale will be enough to cover the new stadium costs and some signings, so they won't need to sell clue players for the moment.

Bianchi was a big name and he left after 6 months with €4.5m in the pocket.

They should sign Antic, Irureta or Victor Fernandez. That or stick with Pepe Murcia.

Anyway with Atletico you never know. Every year they have a good line-up on paper but then..

Torres won't wait another year. He'll leave this summer. If he waits, the rest of the world could realize that he's overrated and he wouldn't have any offer. He will leave now that there are teams very interested. Maybe he needs a change, a new challenge, like Joaquin. They've not improved anything in the last couple of years and they had(or still have) big potential.

Tevez should go to Europe, so we can enjoy a few more years of ''Kun'' Aguero... :nape:

We lost Saviola, Aimar, Cavenaghi, D'Alessandro and Pisculichi too early...The clubs here are so stupid.

Of course, he only played less than a 1 year as a proffessional player, didnt played in the national team, he only played a few games in the Holland U-20 WC. But dont worry, he will be a regular in the National Team after the WC.

Saviola did great in Barca, until Laporta and Rijkaard said :ewan: Conejito.

Maxi Lopez played like 200 minutes in Barca, right? I think he has a lot of future.

Ortega is a special case, he likes the party a lot, and specially Buenos Aires party. :rockman:

Nothing's been confirmed yet.

Independiente club president Julio Comparada has rubbished Spanish press reports that teenage Argentine starlet Sergio Aguero has signed for Atletico Madrid.

Spanish newspaper As and radio station Cadena Ser reported Friday that the 17-year-old had signed an eight-year contract with the Madrid club for more than 20 million euros.

But Comparada retorted: "I can absolutely confirm that he (Aguero) has not been sold. I am very surprised by these reports in the Spanish press. It is complete nonsense."

As and Cadena Ser reported that Atletico had beaten off competition from European giants Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich to land the highly-rated striker.

Aguero is the youngest ever player to play in the Argentine top league at 15 years and one month and this last season he smashed 17 goals in 34 matches. He has been compared to Diego Maradona and Brazilian legend Romario.

Comparada confirmed that the Argentine club, who have won the Copa Libertadores a record seven times along with 14 national championships, are in talks with Atletico and other clubs but said no sale has been agreed.

He did admit, however, that Atletico's offer was the closest to the amount Independiente are looking for. — AFP
