I think you didn't apply right palette for each single slot texture so you have wrong gayscale
this is the simpliest way to make a bootpack IMHO (9 noneditables):
- put all boots texture in one place (picture)
- choose indexed color and save palette from it
- switch to RGB and share it to 3 parts
- switch to indexed color and apply palette you saved to each other texture

that's all. Now run graphic studio and just drag&drop these texures (click at that small black square first to set all color opaque) onto "ee" boots slots with LEFT mouse button, then drag&drop one of these into all palette slots using RIGHT mouse button (with checked only "Extract/Insert RGB Data")
then do "Half Resize" and drag and drop them onto gs slots with left mouse

dunno how to make it with editables but I recon in similar way

I noticed very useful thing (obocaman showed me light but I knew it from time ago)

this is how looks the structure of files in data_x.afs (an example):

[some folder].afs - 250 kb

  • [some file].afs - 50 kb
    [some file 2].afs - 150 kb

now, if we put bigger file into [somefile].afs which is bigger than 50 kb we have to make modify space
so we make modify space (what take so long time, you need about 600 mb for it, and it doesn't work everytime)
now our file [somefile].afs has 70 kb

so it looks like that:

[some folder].afs - 250 kb

  • [some file].afs -70 kb
    [some file 2].afs - 150 kb
now, if we would like to share our eg. bootpack we shouldn't to relase this increased file separately but the whole folder (if it contains just couple of files like with balls or boots)

if we increase size of files, size of folder which contain that file is still the same (up to its limit of course)
so other ppl who will be d/l it do not have to do modify space, they can just import folder to game and that's all, it's the best and fastest solution

I imported my japaneese commentary in analogical way; I had 6 files and one of them was too big; so I created folder with name of parent folder and put my files into it; then I imported the whole folder to game - it worked, I had commentary installed

you can do this trick with all kind of files in data_x.afs

in analogical way in my example above, instead of doing modify space we can just create [somefolder].afs folder on our HDD, then put to into it our [somefile].afs and export the rest files there (here: [somefile2].afs)
now, browse to this file in data_x.afs with AFS Explorer/AFS Extract/or Graphic Studio and import that folder - you will import it without doing very time consuming "modify space" feature
