I won't disagree with anything you said. BUt I wish you take into consideration one thing. The changing point in this race was the game between sevilla and real madrid. Everyone said that this game would determine wether sevilla would win the league or not, and what happened?? the better team won.
Yes, regretfully a tie there would have helped us greatly, but we have kept up with Madrid in the race since. It was more of a setback than a turning point. You can't say "the better team won." We were outplayed, I will be the first to admit, but we were also playing in a raucous Bernabeu and only four days after an exhausting semifinal against Osasuna. You can't honestly consider that match an even comparison of the teams.

Although you have been the best team for the better part of the season, Real madrid have become the best team for the second half of the season.
I was going to admit that this was true, but then I realized I've been reading too much Marca. Once I started looking at Madrid's results for the season, I realized that even in April the team was still playing poorly.
It wasn't until the next match against Osasuna that Madrid started to play convincingly. So, I guess you could say that they've been the best team of the last QUARTER of the season. But wait, is this even so true? Madrid had big wins against Valencia and Sevilla. Aside from that, we have matched or bettered the results of Madrid in the span while winning UEFA and Copa matches at the same time. For example:
Madrid beat Osasuna 2-0. So did we in the UEFA semis.
Madrid beat Athletic 1-4. So did we the week before.
Madrid beat Espanyol in the dying moments. We dominated Espanyol in a 3-1 win the week before.
Madrid beat Recre in the dying moments. We beat them comfortably the week before.
Madrid beat Deportivo. So did we the week before.
Madrid tied Zaragoza in the dying moments. We dominated Zaragoza in a 3-1 win the week before.
Madrid hasn't been the late-season juggernaut that the media has been painting them as. I would say that Madrid has been the most EXCITING team of the late-season.
