These are the necessary changed for FIFA 2001. I know that the EA team won't read 'em, but here they are:
1) Larger Pitch. I have been crying for a larger pitch since RTWC 98 and it makes the game even more realistic.
2) Slower gameplay. When I first read about the possibility to change the speed of the gameplay I was very happy. But when I bought FIFA 99 the only possibility was to speed it up. It sucked! It doesn't become more realistic if you speed it up. There should be an option with 'Slower gameplay' too.
3) Possibility to score goals from distance. I thought that you could do that in FIFA 2k. But no. Only in the easiest level. And how fun is it to play in amateur!? And It's quite hard to score from freekicks too.
3) Fix the bugs! There are LOTS of bugs in FIFA 2k. Why don't the EA team fix 'em right away or make a patch for FIFA such as they've done for NHL2k.
Some of the bugs is:
* The 'Player Stats' - the game doesn't separate leagueplay and cup-play. It adds both cup- and leaguegoals to one list.
* The goalkeepers moves - They have done it again. In RTWC the keeper throwed himself to the ground at easy balls and he still does. How can you miss such a thing!?
* The Offside - sometimes the ref calls an offside when you don't even have the ball.
These are some of the bugs and I know that there are a lot more!
4) Graphics - Some things missing:
* Add a substitute-booth at the side of the field.
* Better audience. The EA team has failed and the audience really sucks. They do the same moves over and over again. I'd like some real fans which are dressed in their teamcolours. Not like in WC98. Only a certain part of the audience (perhaps behind the net) should wear the teamcolours. And it should make different moves. Look at NHL 2k. The audience stands up when a team scores. That's the way it should be.
* The Weather. There should be a possibility of weatherchange during a game. At least a possibility to change the weather manually during the game.
* The kits. The kits should be a lot better. You can hardly see the numbers and there should be a variety of kits to choose between.
* The hairdues. You have to change the hairstyles of the players. And be more accurate when you create the players. Mihajlovic doesn't have long hair!
* Stadium selection. What happened to the stadium selection?! I want to choose my own stadium before a game.
* A better video. There should be a better video at the startup! It sucks!
Why don't they use real-life pics like in NHL 2k. NHL is still miles ahead FIFA at all points.
5) National teams. Add more nationalteams and add the correct players!!! Ukraine isn't an option despite of their good team.
E.g. I the swedish nationalteam the have ****ed up completely. There are a player named C Dolberg in Sweden. There isn't a Swede with that name! And they have added poor players to the nationalteam instead of the good ones.
This was just an example and I'm sure of that there are several mistakes like this one.
6) Better AI. That's all I have to say.
There are A LOT more thing to improve but this is a start. Please make these things happen. I know that there are lots of people out there who agree with me.
