Wow, and all because I disagreed with you, lol. Thing is regularcat I don't take you or anybody or life anywhere near that seriously. Which is why I can laugh at your anger. It's all just people and their opinions, and yours are as relevent/irrelevent as the next person's.
Simple truth is that video games are responsible for the dumbing down of kids' intellects and the fattening up of their asses. Going outside and playing sports is both social and healthy. Sitting in front of a screen and pushing buttons on a gamepad is neither, bottomline.
im not angry, i just dont understand how you can feel that video games are the only reason people are obese, like eating habits, genetics, etc have nothing to do w/ it.
my kid has a nintendo ds & she play the brain games as much as any other games, which i dont feel dumb her down.
she also plays the sims which i think of as a life simulation more than a game, it gets her acquainted w/ having to get up for work, cleaning up, managing work/fun time & daily habits of life that will help her as she grows up.
& if there are kids who just sit in front of a screen pressing buttons all day, then its not the kids fault, its the parents.

@Regularcat: I still don't think it's only due to how dangerous the world has become today, but I agree with you when you say it's because our parents didn't have what we have now, and we don't have what our children will have so we won't likely understand it eventually.
I mean, the same goes with cellphones: I can text while walking without having to look at the screen as I know which letters are on whick key and learned (to some extent) the behaviour of T9 so I can roughly predict which word will come up first, or second...
But I've seen people ask "if it's a phone why doesn't it have wires?" so I'm pretty sure it works the way you pointed put.
By the way, my parents always told me I was wasting my time when I was younger and used to spend 2/3 hours a day playing PES plus several hours per week creating kits, now that I'm 26 I still play FIFA and a couple of other games regularly (trying to edit something for FIFA too, though I'm not as good as I used to be with PES6 editing) and I don't feel like I'm wasting time.
Of course if I spent 10 hours a day playing leaving behind school/work, friends and/or girlfriend I would say "something's wrong here" but playing everyday for a reasonable amount of time is by no means a waste of time.
Of course only you can define what is "reasonable" to you, according to your daily tasks.
this also goes for bangus also, the world is dangerous, maybe not as much for the grown adult who is more aware of things that go on & have the ability to make better decisions & not be affected by peer pressure.
but we are talking about children, young kids, especially teens who always feel the pressure of what everyone else is doing, i was one of them, i was always in the streets doing things i shouldnt have done, good thing i finally took the responsibility for what i was doing & stopped blaming it on others & being a product of my environment & doing something w/ myself keeping myself from failing in life.
the fact is the world is dangerous no matter how you look at it, kids snatched up every day, grown men & women raped & murdered every day.
i really dont feel comfortable allowing my child to run the streets, id rather her in doors, she doesnt need friends, friends come & go & in the end all you ever really have is yourself & your family.
