Gimnastica de Torrelavega is a team playing in Spanish 2nd div B.

Now they are making some changes in the stadium, and when they were removing the turf, a bomb from the spanish civil war was found. It was ONLY 1,5 meters deep underneath the pitch.

The bomb was perfectly conserved. It was 75 cm long and had 25 kg of explosives. It was shooted by fascist troops in 1937.

It's scaring to think that in last 70 years there have been thousands of football games on that pitch.

In recent years, in the spanish cup, even Depor, Madrid, Barça and many big clubs have played there. ...

Not necessarily true. I know that there are WWII bombs in the French countryside that are still dangerous and could explode. They have to take extreme caution to dispose of them.

they could explode when being handled, but not if they are buried 1.5 mts deep with no disturbances...dunno, doesnt sound at all scary to me. nothing beats to walk on a mine field

Actually, I think some of the "undisturbed" bombs buried in France have exploded. I'm not positive though.

A bomb under the pitch... wow :o

If it were to have gone off that could have been one disturbing scene (if there was a game that is....)

"Yes, Al Quida was well alive and well even in the 30s, they were in cahoots with the Fascists. This is the work of Al Quida (7 decades ago) of course, but, it's got the Al Quida characteristics all over it"

In Germany they found WWII bombs already too.

Lots of them :|

They found a bomb 100 meters away from my house a few years ago :f***:
And there was one where they build the Allianz Arena in Munich.

If the Americans and British wouldn't have bombed destroyed Cities or Cities which were under control by the Allies it wouldn't be that bad :(
