Because other ppl started also a thread about his game. I thought that I should do the same. well here it is then, my Auxerre that I started today:
van Deurzen assigned as manager of Auxerre is the headline of the French newspaper:"Le Monde" on 16-6-2003. Le monde says that it might be unwise from the Auxerre board to assign such an inexperienced trainer. Also the fans of the French regional club have there doubts about van Deurzen and already say that he can in now ways replace Guy Roux, who left the club.
A few days later van Deurzen signs Maxim Tsigalko for 650.000 euros. Tsigalko first didn't wanted to go to Auxerre but when Auxerre offered him some more money he did go. He doesn't want to tell how much that is but the rumors say that it is about 10.000 to 15.000 euros a week. The trainer says it's one of the most promising strikers on the globe. Altough some people say the 20 year old striker is too inexperienced to be already a good
partner to Djibril Cisse.
The French television TF1 says that it might be possible that Phillipe Mexès and Djibril Cissé are going to leave Auxerre and go to respectively Liverpool and Betis. Max van Deurzen says on TF1 that he would like to let them stay in mid-France but when a nice offer comes he might accept it. The two Frenchmen’s are very excited about there possible transfers. In the mean time the transfer speculations go on for example it is rumored that van Deurzen has send a scout to look for Montolivo from Atalanta.
Auxerre wins her first friendly against Bordeaux with 1-0 thanks to a goal from the new Belarusian youngster who first missed a penalty but was first to the rebound and struck the ball right into the right upper corner of the goal. Maxim Tsigalko was already a great player in his first game and helpt Auxerre to the win. The other players where not very convincing, altough Cissé had some good actions but didn’t came near a goal. Also the left back 22 year old Jean-Pascal Mignot made an impress with good forward runs. And maybe it should have been 2-0 when Tsigalko set Guillaume Lechacheur, a hot prospect from the Auxerre youth academy, free for goal but the 20 year old Frenchman missed.
Max van Deurzen used a 4-1-2-1-2 system which worked out quite good. He said that he was satisfied with the result but did want to see more goals.
Here’s a picture of the tactic from van Deurzen published in “Le Monde” :
