Any Aussies here? help needed

I moved over to Aus (Brisbane) from England, I don't know much about the stuff here but I wanna get internet and I don't know what to go for. I've tried Bigpond and such but the only thing with that is they have a megabyte allowance.

Are there any ISP companies who have good download/upload speeds (for downloading movies, music and playing online games with) and please provide links if possible??

I would rate Internode the best, the most reliable and the fastest.

I like the look of TPG, I don't like the fact that they have a download allowance (even though I may not reach the high end ones like 80GB ot 100G.

Depends on your budget and how much monthly data you think you'll need. You might want to take a look at these:

Internode
People Telecom
Exetel - ADSL1/ADSL2+
TPG - ADSL1/ADSL2+

I'd say internode has the best service but exetel is better value for money esp. if you tend to leave your computer on at night to download stuff. I know of a few other much cheaper places but I recommend you stay well away from them, their tech support is non-existent and they will gangrape you as soon as you give them your credit card or bank account number.

I do tend to leave my computer on at night, its much faster (because it's not being used for other stuff), my downlo will prob be under 80GB I think thats the safest point.

i am just hoping he doesnt choose telstra.

Well see if you can go through these if you haven't done so already, and pick out something with the price and download speed you'll be happy with. Keep in mind not all those companies are great (you can ask about them on the whirlpool forums), and with some of the plans that say 'unlimited' downloads, they will actually slow down your connection after a certain point so make sure you read all the small details as well.

I made that mistake once, when i signed up for bigpond cable, they kept charging me for excess usage even when i went away on a holiday for almost 4 weeks. Still they're not as bad as dodo, damn those guys suck so hard.
