If so what team do you watch and what are your predictions for the upcoming Olympics in Salt Lake City?

I think Team Canada has a really strong roster so I think they may be top dog. But with the Czechs and Hasek you never know.

in the upcoming 2002 olympic games in salt lake city, their will be but one victor, and we all know that it will be CANADA,

they have a great roster, they just need to find their winning ways, which has been quite a while since a gold medal or championship, besides hasek, forget hasek, canada have the best goalies in brodeur, joseph, roy, belfour etc. we have the best defencemen in the world, blake, macinnis, pronger, niedermeyer, stevens, bourque(retired unfortunately, doesnt really count), and dont talk about forwards, sakic, lemieux, kariya, fleury (hopefully he will be ok getting out of rehab), peca, yzerman, shanahan, nolan, nieuwendyk, allison, robitaile, turgeon, recchi, tanguay (hopefully please pick him) the list goes on

i know that other teams have depth rosters, like the czechs, russians, finns, americans, but i think canada will take gold

Yeah, every 4 years we all know it will be Canada, and it is NOT Canada every 4 years.


However, considering how great Russian Olympic team plays lately, I think that we will continue our recent losing tradition, because we all know that it is too hard to play with hangover... I need a few shots of Stolichnaya, my head will explode.


oh yeah, me and my friend bet that Russia will win it, and if I lose, I should give him 5 bottles of vodka (no joke). GOD he is an IDIOT, 5 bottles of VODKA!!! I am not crazy, he won't get it..

He is not. That what all the ppl think, that are in Canada or US, but he is not, they should look in Europe.

tell me who you think is better than wayne gretzky, and dont tell me about some about some guy in the russian leaugue because the leaugues in europe are crap compared to the NHL.

I actually do consider Wayne as the best ever.. However, Soviet Union has got some real great players too.. Like Kharlamov, Fetisov, Krutov, Tretiak, etc.. Not that they are better than Gretz, but Kharlamov, for instance, would have been a real star in the NHL if he would play..


PS. To ALL -- Gretzky is retired now, if you guys didn't know :)

PPS. Actually, Bure played for Russia in 2000 when we SUCKED ASS, but he didn't play in 2001, 3 months ago, that is.. This passed championship we actually played pretty good, but lost to Sweden in the knock-out stage in overtime, I think.. Bad luck. But the most paradoxal thing is that all Russian NHL-players (Yashin, Korolyuk, etc.) played very poorly, yet players from the Russian Superleague played very well (Golts, Razin).. Weird..

Olympics, as well as World Championships are very random.. There are about 6-7 nations that play on the same level, so it is very hard to judge who will win it..

yea i know wayne gretzky retired, i was trying to say hes the greatest player of all time, he scored 90+ goals in 82 games. that is amazing. yes, pavel bure is very good, but i dont think there will ever be somebody greater than wayne.

It's go to be Russia, they got all the great players. But they weren't so good this year in world championship, because practically all the good players like Pavel Bure were playing in NHL that season and NHL is more important, then world championship of hockey. Canada's best player was Wayne Gretzky, but russia got many players that play like him. Gretzky is by far, not the best in the world, but every time i drive from Hamilton in Canada, i see the Gretzky park!!!!!!!!!!!! The park named to a player. I think, that it's stupid.
