A little knowledge is a dangerous thing...
The average PC user will most probably never even think about using the advanced features that XP Pro provides. Go to Microsoft's website, and look at the comparison page; or just look on www.google.com for the differences. Is he a network administrator, for example?? XP Pro is total 'over-kill' for an average domestic PC user.
I've been using Windows XP Home Edition since October 2001, and I'm a relatively 'advanced' user; it does everything that I ask of it (within reason of course). It's an excellent version of XP, and I doubt that he would even use most of XP Home's features! When configured correctly, XP (Home) is an excellent operating system- and extremely stable. Listen to 'MrSmee', the guy knows his stuff!
