WENGER HOPEFUL OVER INJURED DUO
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira will be fit for the start of the new season.
The French duo both missed Friday's draw with River Plate in the Amsterdam Tournament and are unlikely to figure for the rest of their pre-season preparations.
Wenger revealed that both players should be fit for the opening game of the season with Everton, but that Sol Campbell will miss out as he struggles with his injury
"We have many injuries from the European Championships and the worst is Sol Campbell," said Wenger.
"But Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry should be ready in two weeks."
Wenger also admitted that the constant speculation regarding Vieira's future about a possible move to Real Madrid had unsettled the team.
"It has been disturbing because we want to speak about the experience of the team and what's happening next season," added Wenger.
"We don't want to focus on negative stories for the club - but we can deal with it."
Asked if there had been any further developments he said: "No - no news. No news at all."
Wenger revealed that the club could make a further signing before the close of the transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with Ajax defender Hatem Trabelsi and Wenger admitted one more player could arrive at Highbury.
"We might still buy a player but no decision has been made," said Wenger.
Wenger was happy with his side's performance in the goalless draw with River Plate as it gave some of the club's youngster's much-needed first team experience.
"It was a real pre-season game," said Wenger.
"I must say it wasn't an interesting game to watch but as a coach it was interesting to judge young players.
"What I knew already was confirmed today but it's a good learning process for the young players - if you are too slow you lose the ball."
